Kareem Hunt v. Jeremy McNichols

Postby bruiser » Thu Feb 16, 2017 3:29 am

Perhaps the last decent options among the deep RB class here. Hunt checks in around 5'11 210 and has 3-down potential. I have McNichols at 5'9 210 with a profile comp of Devontae Booker.

This is an interesting one because in recent weeks Hunt's value has been going up pretty steadily due to his senior bowl performance while McNichols' stock has slowly been falling due to his small frame and having labrum surgery after the combine.

2 weeks ago I would have said McNichols all day but now I'm torn between the 2.

I like Hunt a lot more. He looks more natural as a RB IMO and I think he has a much higher ceiling than McNichols. McNichols strikes me as a slower DeAndre Washington from last season. He is a really solid pass catching RB and a late target for me for sure, but I think Hunt's worst case scenario is being a Jeremy McNichols. Where as McNichols worst case scenario is out of the league in 2-3 seasons, as he just seems extremely unathletic to me and has no juice as a runner.

Hunt for me. Fair question, but a fairly ready answer given what I've seen to-date.

So after about a month of this post being out here, is the consensus still Hunt here? I've been a pretty big advocate for McNichols the past few months even though he has a small frame, I still like him in PPR.

Hunts value seemed to rise rapidly with his great showing in the senior bowl but has now cooled down drastically since showing below average results at the combine.

Looking at March ADP, it looks like Hunt is now rookie RB#8 off the board and McNichols is RB#10 off the board. McNichols also scores higher in every category on playerprofiler except college YPC.

McNichols right now, although 5'9, checks all the boxes to be a feature back: age, size, speed, agility, production, and receiving ability.

Yeah, I went McNichols back in February. I still like him more in PPR.

This rookie battle is more lopsided than I could've imagined.
