The Watkins owner has him on the block. He is signed to a 3 year contract with (ofc) 2 years left. After that he can be extended for a maximum of 2 years.
How do you see Watkings evolve during this time? His current situation is awful to say the least.
Sitting with the 1.12, not sure if I'd get him for that but seems like I should pull the trigger if he accepts.
What do you think? Team 1 in sig.

I may be alone in thinkig this, but I see 2014 as Sammy's floor:thaniz wrote:The Watkins owner has him on the block. He is signed to a 3 year contract with (ofc) 2 years left. After that he can be extended for a maximum of 2 years.

What do you think? Team 1 in sig.
a) although Cassel is awful, he is an upgrade over Manuel
b) the combination of McCoy and Rexy is a backfield that defenses will have to account for, trending toward favorable match ups.
c) although Rexy runs the ball a ton, every team has to pass. when the Bills pass, Sammy will be option #1 and will see that option out of a (presumably) effective playaction scenario. this plays directly into his strengths.
so, I a believer.
do you think you can get him for the 1.12? I think that would be a steal!

Re: Watkins in a salary cap league?
I agree with GoIrish, Watkins has the potential for a long and meaningful career and if you can get him for a good price, you should.
You don't mention the price of the contract or the cap value so maybe this is just a league with a cap on contract years. That makes the decision even easier.
I doubt you'll get him for the 1.12. I think many owners would be looking for 1.1+ for the player who was the consensus 1.1 last year and has proved he can do it in the NFL. Looking at you team, you might have to add someone like Sanders or Tate to that 1.12, but that might be worth it. However, with another deep WR class this year that might be an overpay from you and you might be better off taking you chances and keeping what you've got.
The other thing is that other league members will probably also be interested and might be preparing bigger offers, but there's no harm in asking him the question and if 1.12 does it for you then bite his hand off...

Re: Watkins in a salary cap league?
It is a league with salary cap, 1000 per team. Watkins is on a 30 contract. Also, he is still on the taxi squad, meaning I could get 3+2 years out of him. Extension 1.75 x 30.
I offered the 1.12 for Watkins. He countered with my pick and also asked for Bryant, who's got 2 years left, possible 2 year extension. His cap hit is 16..

Re: Watkins in a salary cap league?
As long as that's Martavis Bryant and not Dez, I'd do that deal. Watkins is the WR13 according to the latest DLF dynasty rankings while Bryant is WR39. Watkins is his team's number 1 receiver while Bryant is going to be behind Brown. Finally, this year's 1.12 was valued as the 81st pick in the DLF Premium League start-up draft (88th in the DLF HoF league - Bryant clocked in at 55/53 respectively in those drafts). Obviously those are non-cap leagues but the cap hit here is negligible, even for the extension, so doesn't really factor into the calculation.
As for his situation - I have no real problem. Would he be more effective with a better QB? For sure. But QBs get injured, and there's a new draft every year. The Bills will likely take a QB next year if they don't take one this year, and even without a new QB I'd expect him to be able to hit 1000+ yards and 6-8 TDs a year going forward as a minimum. What did he get last year? 982 and 6 TDs from what I can see. Barring injury I'd see that as his floor.

concur with Junk--I would pay Martavis Bryant and the 1.12 for Sammy and not really think twice about it.

Re: Watkins in a salary cap league?
I offered Sanders and the 1.12. Went a bit back and forth. He now asks for my 1.12, 3.12 and one year of Sanders for Watkins and the 5.3.

We also get points for returns, so Sanders was the wr7 in 2014.
I countered with Sanders, 1.12 and 3.12 for Watkins and 4.03.

Re: Watkins in a salary cap league?
I pull the trigger on that pretty easily. I'm not sure Sanders production as I expect Denver to run a bit more and you'd only have him for one more year anyway. I think the 1.12 is a small price to pay to lock up Watkins.thaniz wrote:We also get points for returns, so Sanders was the wr7 in 2014.
