RSO trade or cut

Postby Daddyburleson86 » Tue Mar 06, 2018 5:56 pm

I have Lamar Miller $21 million and donte moncrief $16 million due this year under contract throw next year. I'm deep with running backs and the 1.01 this year, should I cut them and save 18 million towards wr and te in free agency or should I try to trade them? If I trade them whats fair market value?

If your thinking of cutting them, then any return is better then nothing. Try for a draft pick / or bump and a young prospect you like where your weakest.
PPR IDP Contract Cap:
ConF (16 Team)
DAF (16 team)
DW2- Co-Commish (16 Team)

PPR IDP Salary Cap:
Hardcore - LAC (32 team)
T1 - Commish (12 team)
T2 - Commish (16 Team)

Im not totally familiar w/ RSO, but I'd try to get something out of them in a trade. I'd imagine with the giant cap hits though it'd be difficult to find a buyer, especially for Moncrief. Either way they've got to go, 35 million for a RB2 ceiling and an annual disappointment is too much, no matter what the cap is.

Could you cut them and resign them at a lower price? Might be a good move if you actually want to retain them.
All my teams suck. And I'm not in your league.

Id try to trade for future picks if possible. Even a 3rd rounder will be better than the cap hit you’ll get. If not, cut bait. Not worth the salary. You’ll get $18.5 million to spend on someone else.

Remember you can just give a player away without any compensation to a team willing to take on the salary which would be better than cutting them for you. Moncrief is an easy cut as I doubt anyone is willing to take on his salary unless you give up compensation for them to take on the salary. Miller could have value to a team with lots of cap space and little at RB if FA options are thin at RB.

Maybe you could do a basketball style trade, where you're giving away a pick for someone to take on the contract? I'm not familiar with RSO settings so not sure of the feasibility of this idea.
12 team, 1PPR: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, Flex, Flex
QB: Brees, Smith, Bortles,
RB: Zeke, Freeman, Buck Allen, Duke, Burkehead, D. Lewis, A. Peterson, C. Grant, Blount
WR: Hilton, Thielen, G. Tate, Edelman, Fuller, Cobb, R. Matthews, C. Meredith, Ginn, Amendola, Pryor, Hurns, J. Matthews
TE: Kittle, Eifert, Brate, McDonald, J. James
IR: K. Dixon, Jermey Hill

2019 Picks: 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 5th
2020 Picks: 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 5th

^^^^^You absolutely can give picks to get people to take the contract. I usually look at this from the perspective of cap space. If I am freeing up 21 million dollars in room, would the player I could likely get at auction be worth the trade of a 2nd rounder. It doesn't hurt to "give away" the pick if. you adopt this perspective. Also, we discuss such things on a new RSO devoted podcast "All About Reality": https://anchor.fm/rsopodcast/episodes/E ... 6/a-a1ptlh
