Advice Thread: Salaries and Contract Length

Postby Bay City Original » Sun May 07, 2017 11:18 am

Being a newbie to Salary Cap Leagues... I'm sure I'll have lots of questions (as I'm sure others will) about salaries and contract lengths. Rather than create a new post for each inquiry... I figure I'd start an ongoing string for anyone to post. (If there's already one started, please let me know and I'll post there.

LOL.. terrible idea for a post... don't respond and let the post die!

I'm thinking about these contract lengths for these rookies who have a set salary...

$300 cap league, 32 max rosters, 100 max contract years, Full Cap Hit for cutting players
•Deshuan Watson, QB: $1 (set rate for drafted position) for 5 years
•John Ross, WR: $4 (set rate for drafted position) for 3 years

Any thoughts about this?

I have very little idea about value in your league, so all I can say is this: assign contract lengths for starting caliber talent based on the positional scarcity (value) in your format. If QBs are a premium, then sign those rookies as long as you can. If they are easily replaceable, treat them as redraft.
Just a guy who loves fantasy football - specifically defense.
