Expansion draft from 12 to 14

Postby Kleva1 » Tue Mar 07, 2017 5:33 pm

In a salary cap league with contracts. Contracts go up 10% each year. Cap goes up 5% each year. Rookie draft and FA auction. Hold outs.

So how do you go about an expansion draft?

I've read :

But that's for a keep them forever dynasty league. Good contracts getting cherry picked in the draft could really set teams back.

Anyone have an experience with this?

No experience with an expansion draft but a few ideas:
1. I don't know what your FA pool looks like but if it has enough talent you might not need to take players from existing teams at all. Allow only the expansion teams to bid on a certain number of FAs for example. You could also expand the talent level by dumping any player with only 1 year left on their contract into the FA pool. This should not be too detrimental to existing teams.
2. Expansion teams generally get the first rookie picks of each round. You can also give them comp picks at the end of rounds if you want.
3. Allowing each expansion team to take 1 player from each team removes only 2 contracts from each existing team. You can always allow existing teams to protect a certain amount of contracts.

How many players are currently on each team's roster? This would be useful info for starters.
Just a guy who loves fantasy football - specifically defense.
