AP and Hill Cut

Postby jimmycricket14 » Fri Oct 21, 2016 10:04 am

I am in a contract/salary league and AP and Jeremy Hill were just cut. We have a Week 7 cutoff for taking cap hits in the current year and both were on large/bad contracts so their owners set them loose. This means that they are eligible to be signed as free agents. I am having a hard time deciding what each is worth. Our total cap is $315. I was thinking about bidding somewhere around $20 on AP and possibly $12-15 on Hill since I am not a huge believer that he will revert to rookie form ever and could be a roster clogger. I would probably put them both on short term deals (2 years). How would you value AP and Hill going forward? Should I overbid to make sure I lock them up or are they both fine to let slide to someone else?

I have a decent amount of cap space ($36 this year and $150 next year) and I can always make a few cuts if I really wanted to break the bank on them. I can sign them for up to 5 years at whatever price I win them at, although like I said I might just give them short contracts because I don't trust either will be around in 3+ years. Also something to keep in mind is I have a lot of draft picks (4 1sts) which will eat up a decent chunk of my cap next year. More generally who do you have more AP or Hill?

Given all those parameters, I'd prefer Hill over AP. Probably would come much cheaper, and his shelf-life is undoubtedly longer. Given AP's injury and unknown team next year, I could even see an improved Hill (playing for a contract) putting up close numbers to AP. I'd opt for him of the two. Both wouldn't hurt, but I also would NOT use up a huge percent of your cap space on both these guys.
