Mariota or Luck

Hey, Folks,

For Team 2 in sig: I can either have Luck ($33 through 2017) or Mariota ($26 through 2020). I'm not going to be competitive this year, but I will have a chance as early as 2017.

Thoughts?

Why do you figure you won't be competitive? You have some great contracts and I assume there will be some RBs thrown back in or available.

Would keep Luck. If this is a trade, am okay with moving him but you need more in it.

I figure that I won't be competitive because most teams have at least half full rosters; some of them have great players EVERYWHERE. And some of them even have half or more of their cap space. I constructed my team to have expiring contracts for this year, but I figured that I could, as you suggested, pick up guys in the auction since my WR stable is full and stacked. Until Calvin retired and Bryant got suspended. Given the other teams, I won't be able to fill out my roster (and Alex Smith is best available QB).

Yeah if you want to move Luck, Mariota is a good target but you'd need more especially since their contracts are similar (minus years). No chance to resign Luck after his contract is up?

Alex Smith isn't a bad get in a best ball format either.

I do agree that your team has the look of a fringe contender but Bryant's suspension and Megatron's retirement hurts some.

Could Winston be another target?

Functionally irrelevant: he offered me Mariota for Luck (with their respective contracts, of course), and he wasn't going to add anything.

If you are going to lose him for nothing after this year, then id probably do it.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! The other guy traded Mariota elsewhere. He's now working on another package for Luck (whom I have through 2017).
