To Wentz or not to Wentz?

Postby moishetreats » Tue May 02, 2017 7:16 pm

For Team 2 in sig, I have TONS of cap room -- $300 cap, only $50 spent.

Superflex league, and Rodgers and Cam are both free agents. I imagine that I'll get both -- Rodgers might go for close to $70, and Cam could go anywhere from $50-$60.

I might have the opportunity to acquire Wentz ($42) without giving up much. If I do, though, then I likely would NOT bid on Cam.

For the sake of this conversation, consider all the contracts able to be however long I want them to be. We're just going for players at a multi-year salary.

So, what say you: Wentz @$42 or Cam between $50-$60 -- each for multiple years?

Looking at your signature... you have Luck locked through next season. Why not just pair Rodgers and Luck for a season and next season go after another QB long term.

But if you're intent... I'd probably go Cam if he goes in the low 50's but Wentz if Cam goes closer to 60.

Thank you, @East Bay. I actually have Luck through 2017 -- this year. The only other free agent QBs this year are old guys and never-will-bes. Hence the desire to lock up two more.

Unfortunately, the decision on Wentz has to come soon; the Auction isn't until August. Hence the difficulty...

Got it... sorry, didn't read it closely. I'd probably go Wentz for $42.

Curious... what did you do?

Funny enough we're in the middle of our start-up auction and I got Luck for $40k and Wentz for $20k of a $200k cap league (super-flex). I'm really happy with both these picks.

Thanks for the follow-up. The other owner pulled Wentz from the trade block.

In the end, something different materialized: I trade two droppable contracts for Antonio Brown ($60) and Winston ($35). My sig will be updated by tomorrow.

Brown is far too high for my taste, but the addition of Winston, IMO, is more than worth it. And I like him FAR more than Wentz...

Thank y'all again for your advice!
