Countdown to the NFL Draft: 1.07 Bucs

Postby meineymoe » Mon May 05, 2014 8:34 pm

In my Mock draft, I have the Bucs taking Johnny Manziel. I'd much rather have them taking Mike Evans.

Any other insights on Tampa Bay? I'd like to see them give Glennon a better chance, but with a new regime...

I believe Lovie Smith will give Glennon a shot to win the starting job, so I can't see them taking a QB here. The defense is also pretty good, so I don't see them taking a defensive player unless Mack slips this far. I do think that Tampa Bay will try to give Glennon or the future QB that isn't on the team another weapon.

My pick for Tampa bay is Mike Evans.

Mike Evans all day long. Lovie Smith has had a year to watch his former Bears pair up Alshon and BMarsh and see how dominant they can be.....especially with Josh McCown throwing the rock. Wait a minute, the Bucs got Josh McCown this offseason. Paid Evans, Vincent Jackson, Doug Martin, McCown, and a young somewhat talented Tim Wright. Those things can really turn around a football team.
Mike Evans is the pick here.

Mike Evans is the easy choice here. I know there's been some talk recently about Evans going higher but I don't see a fit for him unless somebody unexpected falls. I would be stunned if Watkins falls to 7 but if he's there then Tampa Bay should sprint to the podium. The only chance I see Evans not lasting is if somebody jumps ahead of Tampa Bay shortly after Watkins' name is called. Darkhorse pick if Evans is gone - Kyle Fuller.

I agree that Evans is an easy pick here, but I'm not convinced he's available - I would not at all be surprised if the Raiders go Evans, with Watkins gone before the 5th pick.

I think the tipping point will be what Cleveland does at 4. If they go Manziel, then I think it's almost a lock Evans is on the board at 7 as Oakland would take Watkins. But, if the Browns do the smart thing and take Sammy, then Evans will likely be gone at 5 (or vice versa depending on Cleveland's grades on the two WRs).
