Countdown to the NFL Draft: 1.03 Jaguars

Postby meineymoe » Sat May 03, 2014 10:46 pm

Again, many people think that this could be a landing spot for a QB.

I'm going with Khalil Mack here for the Jaguars. I think he makes sense for the Jags, and he's also the BPA.

This might also be a spot for someone to trade into, especially if they think the Browns might be eying the QB that they want.

Thoughts?

I also like Mack here. The Jaguars coach is defensive minded and came from Seattle, so he knows that a great defense is needed.

Surprise pick would be Sammy Watkins, since Blackmon may not play this year.

Mack might not be on the board for Jacksonville. He's a better fit in Houston than Clowney and the Rams really like him as well. If he's there, I think he's the Jags' pick without question. I don't buy the Manziel talk for Jacksonville, I think they're hoping somebody moves up ahead of them. Gus Bradley is cut from the Seahawk cloth and I suspect they address their defense before they take a QB. If Mack and Clowney are off the board, I think they look at Watkins before they look at a QB especially as somebody pointed out that they're approaching their off-season as if Blackmon doesn't exist. Sleeper pick? An OT. I know they took Joeckel last year but having bookends like him and either a Robinson or Matthews would give them an incredible set of anchors to protect their eventual franchise QB whether that guy is taken this year or next. My gut is telling me Watkins goes here.

Mack. Like what they are building on defense and he would be a much needed upgrade at LB to go along with Paul P.

I am going to choose Khalil Mack for the Jaguars.
However, I think it is possible the Falcons move up for Mack with the Rams.
If this happens then the Jaguars for sure take Watkins. They know they have a huge need at WR and just offensive weapons in general. All they have is Gerhart and Shorts which isn't really great. Now they add Watkins and a QB in round 2 and things aren't looking as bad as once thought for the Jaguars.

Agreed, I think Mack is their top target but they're obviously going to need a solid Plan B in case he's already off the board and I think Watkins is the best remaining player. I think Matthews might be tempting but Watkins is a better player and fills a more immediate need. Not buying Manziel here at all.
