Cromartie to Jets

Postby blacksheep » Thu Mar 04, 2010 11:30 pm

From Rotoworld-

Jets acquired CB Antonio Cromartie from the Chargers in exchange for a conditional third-round pick in 2011.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the pick can upgrade to a second-rounder depending on Cromartie's playing time and the Jets' performance. No one is disputing Cromartie's freakish natural talent, but Chargers GM A.J. Smith did well to pick up a valuable pick. Between Cromartie's myriad off-field issues and nonchalant on-field attitude, the Jets are taking quite a gamble. Of course, if Cromartie ever gets his head on straight, Rex Ryan's secondary will rise to a new level of dominance. Mar. 4 - 10:28 pm et

Revis just got some help if Cromartie can pull his head out. Still...I like this move by Ryan.

mmm. Cromartie doesn't tackle, but will get tons of ball his way next year. I guess he'll have to break up every pass that comes his way. If he's in press non stop he'll have a chance.

Very nice move for the Jets, I think they are moving in the right direction. Watch out Patriots, the Jets are coming up fast!

Can't remember where i read it, but it made a good point that playing opposite Revis, Cromartie will have safety help over the top. Which is big, because he basically gambles for picks every play. As a Jets fan, I like the move, but I'm a little nervous it will backfire. Of course I was also loving the pipe dream of the Jets aquiring Asumugha.
