Bobby Rainey, sell high?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Bobby Rainey, sell high?

Postby oogieboogie » Sun Nov 17, 2013 12:31 pm

my roster is listed in signature.

Bobby Rainey currently has 24 points and counting on the day.

Am I selling this guy immediately to a contender? My team is not competitive this season (2-8) & I'd like to get draft picks for '14 since I only have my original picks.

And really... what is Bobby even worth? a '14 2nd? 1st? Vance McDonald?

I'd take McDonald if that's all you could get. I'd rather get a pick though. I'd shop him to a contender that needs a RB. Maybe you could get their 2nd since their pick would be late. Honestly though, if I wasn't contending I'd sell for whatever you could get. He has no long term value IMO. I have him in 1 league, but I'm the favorite to win the championship so he is pretty valuable to me for the home stretch.

What if I have Rainey and I am a contender, I play Lacey, AP and Moreno so I don't need him. My problem is that only a contender will value him more and I may have to play against him? should I hold or sell

definite sell but I would attempt to sell to a fringe playoff team that may be rb needy and perhaps miss the playoffs

Selling Rainey for Vance McDonald is ridiculous IMO. I think Rainey could surprise next year. Martin did nothing this year. Schiano might be gone. Maybe Rainey gets a shot. Martin is not a no-brainer franchise RB like some people claim. He did little this year and I saw nothing to get excited about for next season. Both Mike James and now Rainey looked much more explosive that Martin this season.

I don't think Martin did as terribly as people believe. He wasn't rushing for 150+ yards, but he would have done just fine if he was getting TDs. He had one TD before getting hurt. His stats would have been much better if he'd found the end zone more (obviously). But that's everyone's big complaint. Martin wasn't scoring a lot. He rushed for a good amount of yards when he played. He just wasn't scoring. How many games did Martin play with Glennon? Freeman wasn't a threat to pass for opposing defenses. They were stacking against Martin. After Glennon became acclimated to the offense, defenses began realizing that he was a danger to throw the ball. This is why the rushing game has thrived in recent weeks.

I would also take James' upside over Rainey's. I'm not bailing on Doug Martin yet. His rookie year cannot be overlooked. Bobby Rainey was brought in because TB NEEDED another RB to add to the roster. The likelihood of him having any fantasy value next season in TB is slim to none.

Sell high on the guy if you can find someone to buy him.

I am not saying that I would sell Rainey for McDonald but I was just throwing out possible values, i.e. " '14 2nd rounder, McDonald, ... "

Thank you for input.

I will definitely be shopping Rainey and see what he might fetch. Anyone can be sold if the price is right, lol!

I would definitely be selling Rainey right now.
I think a 2nd would be a steal but I would take pretty much anything I liked even a little bit.
