2019 Draft Best Player Available

Postby PhillySpecial » Tue Apr 16, 2019 11:58 am

See team below. I own rookie pick 8 and 11. I was just wondering what other people thought about BPA vs position. I expect two nice WRs at my draft position (Harmon, Deebo, Whiteside) but does it make sense to draft the BPA even if it is TE (Fant, Hockenson)? I have solid TE depth but what if I drafted the top two talents in Fant and Hock and they ended up with Kittle/Gronk upside? I could sell these TE down the road for great value compared to the above WRs that will most likely be WR2 at best. Am I crazy?

This is based on a poor RB class and what seems to be an overrated WR class.

Stick with BPA. I'd be fine taking WR/WR, WR/TE, and possibly even WR/RB (depending on what RBs drop to that 11th pick). But no matter what I'd want at least 1 WR, mainly because you have a lot of potential for your WRs but not any studs yet imo.

If we look at your positions:
QB is fine, I mean you have 2 in a 1QB 10 team league
RB is okay ish, hope that Fournette bounces back, Guice plays to his potential and Conner continues. However your depth is a little shaky here for a 10 team leauge.
WR as I said above you have lots of potential, but you have a lot of WR2/3s (especially since this is a 10 team league)
TE is meh, gotta hope that Henry plays like everyone thought he should, or that Goedert is able to carve out a TE role in Phily

Overall, imo your team is in desperate need of some studs. I'd be considering moving some of your players for 2019 or 2020 1sts.

I always advocate BPA available regardless. I think Fant/Hockenson/Whiteside/Samuel/Harmon are all close enough though that you should take who you believe in the most.

To me, BPA is situation dependent, unless you have a Saquon sort of talent.

I would ask this question in 2 weeks

Thanks for the feedback. Landing spot of course will make all of the difference.
