Roster - Would love a reality check

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Roster - Would love a reality check

Postby JJRules » Mon Mar 25, 2019 8:36 am

So I think my team is relatively stacked, but many teams are in a ten-team league. I would love some outside thoughts on the roster I've constructed - team in signature.

Will need to drop somebody before our draft to grab a D/ST. I'm hoping preseason will sort out exactly who that will be, but Gus is my likely drop at this point.

Am I off base in my assessment? Do I love this roster simply because it's mine or does it actually look good?

You have a lot of young players with potential, but a lot will depend on whether they actually develop into productive starters, particularly the WRs and TEs. I would say that you're a playoff team if a few things go right, and I'd agree with cutting Edwards for a DST.

Looks like a very solid team on paper. If Godwin and Kirk make a jump, you should be looking good at WR. RB's again look good but are unproven. QB's are great! Based on your roster, I would drop Edwards for sure. I think Ballage will get a lot of chances this year. Be patient with your team as you could be a beast this time next year.

Nice team. Shallow bench leagues are stressful! May we assume there will be DSTs / Kickers available on the waiver wire to cover bye weeks? Or would some owners get cute and try to hoard DSTs as a means to block opponents? Perhaps there are already rules in place in your league to prevent owning say > 2 DSTs?

This looks like a developmental team that could make a jump in 1 or 2 years. You have good players but I wouldn't call it stacked.
Too many teams and lineup changes to keep track of them all.

you have a good depth team, but in a ten team league its about who your studs are.
QB you're golden
RB Mixon is a stud imo, cook is probably your next closest one but he needs to have a good season this year. Kerryon and Guice are just potential at this point
WR Adams is a stud, Kupp, Golladay, Godwin, and Kirk (really the first 3) need to make the jump up (I'm not sure on Kupp's potential for this but like the other three's potential)
TE: Good if you don't have one of the top 3

I think to be really in contention for the championship you either need to make some moves, or hope that some of your players play to their potential

Another way to look at this, what were the rosters of the the two teams that played in the championship this past year?

Actually I think your looking like you're in great shape. There is enough youthful talent on your team to serve you well into the future. Your WRs are good enough for a non-ppr start 2 WR league. Maybe not totally stacked, but a highly competitive contender all the same.

I would not call it stacked, but I would be trading my 2019 1st, if it is not in the top 4, to get a 2020 first. You are one stud RB or WR away from being a beast in your league.
10 team PPR league, 24 man rosters, 5 man taxi, 5 man IR
QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex
QB: Anthony Richardson, Tua Tagovailoa, Sam Howell, Trey Lance, Hendon Hooker (IR)
RB: Saquon Barkley, Rhamondre Stevenson, Khalil Herbert, Antonio Gibson, Gus Edwards, Jerome Ford, Kendre Miller (TX), Roschon Johnson (TX), Pierre Strong (TX), Tyson Chandler (TX)
WR: Garrett Wilson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, DJ Moore, Diontae Johnson, Chris Godwin, Terry McLaurin, Kadarius Toney, Jayden Reed, John Metchie, Justyn Ross,
TE: George Kittle, T.J. Hockenson, Chigoziem Okonkwo, Sam LaPorta (TX), Isaiah Likely, Luke Schoonmaker (IR)

Draft Picks
2024: 1st
2025: 1st, 2nd, 3rd
Finishes:
2017 - Last
2018 - 2nd
2019 - CHAMPION
2020 - 7th
2021 - 2nd
2022 - CHAMPION
2023 - TBD

Love both your qb but would be selling one, probably luck. Im not a fan on keryon, think he's talented but id stay away from that organization at rb until there's a new coaching staff in place. Also not a huge fan of Howard, but you could do worse there.

I'd be trading luck, keryon, and Howard. Look for a reasonable backup qb, a starting rb, plus a serviceable te and lots of picks. I think you'll stay just as competitive, if not more and you'll avoid losing value on keryon and Howard after they have what I'm expecting to be down years in 2019.

I think you stay the course. I'm either not on board with the last guy's idea or I will say it REALLY differently.

Don't trade for depth because you have plenty. If you make a deal it better be for another stud. Abloom summed up your studs pretty well. Cook needs to stay healthy and he will be solid, Guice we shall see, but I am a believer. I actually would target (if anything) an upgrade at WR with one of your up and coming WRs and depth from another position.

If it were my team, I'd probably stand pat unless I got a clear win in a trade to upgrade at WR. I also wouldn't trade depth from QB or TE unless it's a clear win. I like not having to scramble for injuries, and you can even play your TEs at fllex in a major pinch. I think both will be top 5 to 7 this year (and like Henry more than Howard for what it's worth).
Dynasty League (25 man rosters + 2 IR, non-PPR scoring. QB/3RB/3WR/2TE/K/DB/LB/DL no flex)
