SF Startup Trade Back Question

Postby Pete » Mon Mar 18, 2019 8:12 am

I'm in a SF startup. What are good recommendations for trading a first round pick to someone who wants to move up 4 or 5 places in the first round?

I like the idea of grabbing an extra 2nd and 4th round pick. Should get you some solid return. I guess you have to weigh what QB's will realistically still be there in you trade back to those picks. I have never played SF, so it's always tough for me to fully understand values. Despite that, an extra 2nd and 4th seems like really solid value.

Any idea how the other guys in your league will value QBs? I'm not a fan of trading out of the 5th pick in a SF. If the other owners know what they are doing, most of the good QB's should be gone by pick 11.

If you are not sure, then I would not do any of those trades. I personally would stay at 5 and take someone like Luck/Mayfield/Watson.

In my experience, not many QB’s are going to go by 1.11.

Mahomes and Luck are certain. You have to figure Barkley, Elliott, McCaffrey, Kamara and Gurley go. And then at WR, OBJ and Hopkins are also likely gone.

Baker Mayfield and JuJu round the top 12 and with them rising, they might even go before someone like Hopkins due to age.

If you trade back and are targeting a QB, you are likely only to miss out on Luck. Mayfield is close, but Watson should definitely be there. I would definitely do the 2nd deal. The 1st deal is solid, but I would see if I can not move back in the 2nd round.

Thanks Madadamus. Would yo do the second deal straight up, or do you need a future pick?

I would be shooting for the future pick, especially with next years class being really good.
