Sneaky Year 2 Buy-Low Breakouts???

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Sneaky Year 2 Buy-Low Breakouts???

Postby LMS123 » Sun Feb 17, 2019 11:26 am

Who are some sneaky, under the radar guys that due to either A) another year of experience; or B) the changes in the rosters around them have the potential to be big break out guys that can be acquired for cheap now? Here are a few I think could, and why:

Ito Smith - coleman will be gone and Freeman has some injury/concussion history so Ito could carve out a nice role, and if freeman goes down could be the rb1 on a good offence

Robert Foster - Buffalo doesn't have a ton of weapons and foster is a field stretcher for Allen's big time arm. For the fantasy season schedule (not including week 17) in the 7 games he had a catch he went 100+ yards 3 times

Daesean Hamilton - Will start the year as the wr 2-3 in Denver; finished the year with 3 games of 7-47-1; 7-46-0; 6-40-1. Sanders is getting older so he cold be the #2 in Denver to Sutton's #1 sooner rather than later

Deon Cain - Luck came back, looked good, and leads the NFL in pass attempts. With no real #2, Cain could come off injury and get that #2 role and be fed targets from luck for years to come

Trey Quinn - Mr. Irrelevant even though he only played 2 games; looked good in those 2 games. Washington doesn't have any guys I feel are really set as offensive weapons that he is years away from passing on the depth chart. Poor man's Dante Pettis?

Agree? Disagree? Who else can be put on this list?

I really like Hamilton to make a jump this year especially with Flacco heading to Denver. Hamilton will be an easy dump off target. Foster looked surprisingly good, I would not mind having a share in him. I still think Ronald Jones may have a decent year this upcoming season.

i will add
1.RoJo...i think they give him another chance
2.Royce...i feel that Lindsay will become more of a Cohen type player (which still has value) and they will use Royce too
3. MVS/Kumerow/Geronimo/ESB...one of these guys will step up, wish i knew which one
4. Ballage...if given a chance, i think he could be a RB2
team 1 -start QB RB 2WR TE 2RB/WR 1WR/TE
qbs=5pt tds wr/te=1 ppr rbs=.5ppr all get .25ppc
Watson, Brady, Mills
Ekeler, Hunt, Carson/Penny, DForeman, Mitchell, CPat, Kyren, Ford, KHarris
Cooper, sutton, Chase, Shepard, Atwell, Schwartz, Wan'Dale, Austin III
Gesicki, Engram, Hooper, Woods
team 2 -start QB 2RB 3WR TE 2Flex K D

Not that he's a 2nd year guy but I love me some Jake Kumerow; I picked him up in the pre-season after a few nice games and stashed him. Biggest thing he has going for hi is that Rodgers loves him; which in GB plays a HUGE role in opportunity

thanks for the heads up...i have kumerow in a couple leagues and was considering dropping him...perhaps i will keep him for awhile
but yeah, i probably shouldn't have included Geronimo and Kumerow due to the OP .. my mistake

All good! Any players 2nd year or not who are good buy low breakout candidates are worth mentioning!

Dede Westbrook might be another you upside guy that you may be able to get on the cheaper side.

So far the list of players mentioned is:

Ito Smith
Robert Foster
Daesean Hamilton
Deon Cain
Trey Quinn
Rojo
Royce Freeman
Green Bay WR’s
Ballage
Dede Westbrook

I want to add one more real dark horse here in Justin Watson: guy was crazy productive at Penn, he's big and athletic, and Djax and Humphries will both likely be out of the way in Tampa; still buried a bit but like I said, Dark Horse.

Ive been stashing a lot of these guys. I especially love the Watson stash. I made a thread "best buys and stashes 2019 edition" on the main forum page and Watson was my favorite.

Ill also add Kirk as a good buy low for 2019.

Players I'm in agreement with:

Daesean Hamilton
Royce Freeman
Kalen Ballage

Players I will add to the mix:
James Washington (if Pitt doesn't draft or sign a WR)
Christian Kirk (he will still only be 22 to start the season)
Mike Williams (I still consider him a buy-low. I think his value skyrockets this year)
Rashaad Penny (I think he get a shot to be the lead back if he works on some of the finer points of being an NFL RB)

As a Packer fan, I feel they need more of a sure thing opposite Adams. I could see them using the 30th or 44th pick on a WR leaving that group to ideally play the WR3, 4, and 5.
If not, one of them could be a nice get but who, your guess is as good as mine.

I 100% agree there's a good chance they spend some draft capital on a wr; I've seen some mocks with them taking N'Keal Harry with one fo their 1st round picks. If not though; anything is possible

I dont understand why everyone is mocking a WR to the Packers with an early pick? They have so many holes that need to be addressed first plus they've spent a lot of capital at that position already. Triple plus is MVS and ESB both flashed last season when given opportunities.

I think people mocking WRs to the Packers early are thinking with their hearts not their heads.

I like Jaylen Samuels. Not that he will beat out Connor or anything but I really like what I saw out of him when Connor was injured last season. I think his workload will increase quite a bit.
