Startup results

Postby nyterp » Thu Feb 14, 2019 11:43 am

I've never done a snake startup before, so this was uncharted territory for me. I think I like my team, but I also know I tend to look at things with rose colored glasses. 9 rounds left, but much of that will be pick your favorite lottery ticket still available.

12 team, PPR, 25 man roster
QB, RB, WR, TE, SFlex, 4 Flex

QB - Luck, Jimmy G, Dak
RB - Mixon, Jones, Howard, Dixon
WR - OBJ, Sutton, Godwin, Shepard, Washington, Enunwa
TE - Howard

2019 2.06,
2020 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

Thoughts on the team?

I also have identified at least one team I think will have a high 2020 pick that I would like to acquire before the season starts. Any thoughts on non-insulting offers I could make to get it that wouldn't hurt my already weak WR core already? He has two RB1s and is also set at the TE position.

WR depth is pretty questionable after Beckham, but given that you only have to start one RB and one WR and four flex, it's not as big a weakness as it would be in normal formats. Overall I'd give this roster a solid B+.
Kittles Pox | Championships: 2015, 2017
12-Team PPR | QB, 2RB, 2WR, TE, W/R/T, K, DST
QB: Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers
RB: Christian McCaffrey, Melvin Gordon, James Conner, Phillip Lindsay, Tevin Coleman, Boston Scott, Benny Snell Jr.
WR: Tyreek Hill, Mike Evans, Cooper Kupp, Michael Gallup, Christian Kirk
TE: George Kittle, Travis Kelce | K: Younghoe Koo | DST: SF
PS: Mecole Hardman, Tony Pollard | 2020 Picks: 1.09, 2.10, 3.03 | 2021 Picks: 1st, 2nd

what happened to your picks?

i dont like that team too much if im being honest. its really shallow. you did awesome at QB, have a stud rb and a stud wr but the te spot is a ? and then your 4 flex spots are not too good past Jones and Howard.

if i had that team i would be looking to downgrade from luck and/or downgrade from beckham and pick up some strength elsewhere.

like Luck and Shepard for trubitsky or cousins and a WR1 something like that. an example i have is last season i flipped russ wilson and fuller for Ryan and Evans. ryan ended up outperforming wilson and the wr upgrade i got was massive. if i lose 2-4 points a week from qb1 and i know i have a 3rd option to play matchups with ill take that hit to land an upgrade elsewhere. hope that makes sense.

could flip beckham and dixon for say cooks and guice maybe? without knowing other rosters im throwing out random ideas but aim for these types of moves.
team 1
12 team, 1 pt for 4 rec, 0.1 per rush
1qb, 3 rb, 4 wr, te, k, 4 idp
Dak , Herbert
Achane, Breece Hall, KW3Kyren,Ford, Miller, Spiller, z evans, singletary
J Jefferson, Diggs, DK, D Smith Puka, C Watson, E Moore
Njoku , HH, Engram

2024 picks
1,3,4,5,5,6,7 (all late mostly)

team 2
12 team .5ppr
qb, 2 rb, 2 wr, te, flx,flx,
Fields, Dak
Ford,Mixon, Javonte, Mostert, Chubb, Spears
Hopkins, Evans, g Wilson Mingo, shaheed, Jamo
Kelce,McBride, Chig,

1,2,3,3,5

team 3
14 team sf, even scoring idp to offense (rb scores highly too)
Josh Allen, A Rich, Foles, Rudolph
Bijan, Charbs, Spears, Ebner
J Williams, G Wilson, C Watson, Flowers, J Addison, Tillman
Kincaid, Kolar, Ruckert, Fergeson

Kenny Clark, josh allen, jaelen phillips, felix a-u and a bunch of fluff and rookie fliers at idp

It's a good team. You probably couldn't have done much better in a snake... 3 good QB (Luck being Elite) is crucial in SF. A stud WR and RB.

The fact that you got Mixon, Luck and OBJ in a SF snake is impressive

Howard is as good of a bet as any at TE and now you just get to work on depth, but you have a few pieces that will appreciate in value.

I'd give the team an A- there's room for improvement, but as a startup, that's nice. Couldn't have drafted better

This was my first thought as well, especially in a SF. How did this happen. I'm assuming Luck in the first, OBJ in the second, and then Mixon in the third?

Overall good team for the format.

They were draftable assets and I chose not to select them (other than the 2.06). Always thought I could get a player better than the best pick that was available to me. Picks from the mid 3rd on are still there, so I might still end up with a few more.

OBJ @ 1.11 (Only Mahomes was gone so I knew after the turn I would have at least two of Luck, Rodgers, Watson, and Wilson left. Turns out all of them were still there)
Luck @ 2.02
Mixon @ 3.04 (I ended up with this pick via a trade and was shocked Mixon was there)

Makes sense. I realize I am really thing at WR if my young guys don't meet/exceed expectations. Might be worth looking into something like this.

Didn’t have one. Moved 3.11, 4.02, and 9.11 for 3.04, 5.08, and 8.08.

When you put names to these picks it ended up being me getting Mixon, Jimmy G and OJ Howard for George Kittle, 2019 1.02, and 2019 1.08. I’ll call that a win.

My next picks after Mixon were Jimmy G @ 5.08, Aaron Jones at 5.11 and Dak at 6.02.

Good moves. Those QB were great value later on. Like I said before, can't do much better in a startup. I bet there's a few teams looking pretty rough

Great move going hard after Mixon when he was around that late. Big win for you there and your team looks quite good in a SF.

Added Jimmy Graham and Equanimeous St. Brown with my next two picks.

As for QBs going late, I agree. I very nearly went QB/QB at the 1/2 turn but am glad I didn’t because I still got my 3 good QBs.

Here is where the QBs were drafted
Mahomes - 1.02
Luck - 2.02
Watson - 2.03
Mayfield - 2.04
Ryan - 2.08??
Rodgers 2.11 (steal of the draft maybe)
Wilson - 2.12
Goff - 3.01
Wentz - 3.03
Trubisky - 3.06
Newton - 3.07
Cousins - 4.04
Brees - 4.06
Jimmy G - 5.08
Roethlisberger - 6.01
Dak - 6.02
Darnold - 6.04
Allen - 6.05
Stafford - 6.06
Jackson - 6.07
Winston - 6.09 (team’s other QB is Taysom Hill)
Mariota - 7.01
Rivers - 7.03
Care - 7.07
Rosen - 7.09
Brady - 8.03 (team’s other QB is Eli)
Foles - 9.12
Dalton - 11.09
Flacco - 12.11 (trade news broke right before this pick)
Bridgewater - 17.03
Taysom Hill - 17.05
Manning - 17.08
Tannehill - 18.10
