Hunt for 1.05?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Hunt for 1.05?

Postby Mr. Wizard » Mon Feb 11, 2019 8:51 pm

I'm the Hunt owner. This is a contract league, so I've got Hunt for this year, next year, and then could try to tag or extend him. The 1.05 would be for four years, then tag/extend options.

The guy is also stacked at wide and is mulling parting with TY Hilton in some kind of deal, which I think would be a smash accept for Hunt at this point, but I feel he might back off of that one.

Okay. I'll take more opinions as well, but I'm admittedly a little underprepared in terms of this rookie class due to anticipating having no picks. If I move Hunt to trade into the draft, I'm unsure who will be there but I'll begin taking a closer look.

I'd heard the draft class was weak, which is the concern for me. I traded into the draft to pick 1.04 last year, and ended up with Rashaad Penny, who still has plenty of time to pan out but isn't looking so sharp for me at the moment.

Its not necessarily weak. Just lacks a clear bellcow like we've seen previously. Theres a lot of good players.

I would take Hunt pretty easy in this draft , We know Hunt can ballout and it is only a matter of time until he passes Chubb on the team , Even if he don't pass Chubb then he will be a FA in 2020 and it won't be hard for him to find a starting job.

He'll be a restricted free agent. And the browns could tender him at a first round level. Not sure tes will give up a first for him

I would take Hunt as well. Good point on the tender, but I think they will trade Hunt even if they do control him that way.

Hunt easily and I don’t know why anyone else would think otherwise. The draft pick is such a low chance you even hit on someone. To put it in perspective the 2nd overall last year was penny, the 3rd was rojo, freeman went pretty high to. Hunt had 14 tds and 1300 scrim yards before he got suspended and was looking to finish the top 3 at rb. He had 1700 scrim yards the year before. The dude can ball. I’m not sure why people assume nick Chubb will get way more touches. Most likely hunt won’t play this year, or if he does he’ll help them in a playoff run, then he’ll get traded away. There’s no shot they pay 2 RBs for the next 3/4 years.

Yeah, I totally understand both takes.

I’m definitely wary of draft risks after last year was supposedly strong and so many guys looked iffy at best. I’m also worried about Hunt possibly getting smashed with a 10-12 gamer, or never regaining that workhorse status. I’d love if I could convince that guy to part with Hilton but we’ll see.

1.05 easily. Hunt won't see the field for 6-8 weeks, and even then, he'll be the no. 2 back in a committee. Barring injury to Chubb, Hunt won't be startable as more than a flex in fantasy until 2020, maybe 2021.

Just wondering why do you think the 1.05 will be any more than a flex play by 2020 or 2021? Dorsey drafted Hunt in KC for all you know nick Chubb is the backup. Okay maybe that’s to far, but Hunt is every bit as skilled as Chubb and there’s no argument against that really. He’s produced at an elite level in the last 2 years. Hunt is actually way more of a sure bet imo. Had 2 amazing years, didn’t take to much run in college comparatively, and is 23 years old. He could not play this whole season, And still only be 24 years old. This draft class is so WR deep when’s the last time anyone’s actually hit on a wr? It doesn’t happen often and they usually take longer to adjust to NFL level DBs. Also the 1.05 could easily be a huge bust. Just like Rojo, Freeman, Penny all were in there first years (although those situations can get better). The only player that actually produced above a flex level last year was Saquon, Chubb, and Lindsay.
