Sutton vs 7 Item Package

Postby DLF_TylerK » Tue Feb 05, 2019 6:40 pm

I got offered a bizarre trade for my team in sig. 10 team PPR.

Give: Callaway, Zay Jones, Trey Quinn, 2019 pick 19, 2019 pick 26, 2019 pick 29, 2020 2nd Round
Get: Sutton

I think it’s too much to give, but I’m curious about what people think.

Too much to give, in my opinion, and I’m a Sutton owner.

Zay Jones has risk, but he’s shown just as much if not more promise than Sutton to this point in my opinion, and Buffalo has a head start on getting their QB situation figured out.

There’s risk that Buffalo spends a high pick on a WR, but I guess that same risk exists in Denver.

Callaway has a reasonable path to being a fantasy contributor as well. The upside is there.

It’s not outlandish if you are a true Sutton believer, but in my opinion, it’s a bit too much.

In a 10 team league I think Sutton is the only one who eventually will break into the lineup. Very odd package though

Too much for a guy that is a big question mark still. I'm sure you could use all the pieces to just move higher into the draft and grab someone else

My thoughts as well. Besides the picks, in a 10 team league the players you’d be giving up are barely rosterable.

Huh? Who are you moving up into the draft with that package to take that is better/less of a risk than Sutton?

I would snap accept this trade because the only player with WR1 upside in the deal is Sutton. These pieces should never be started in a 10-team league regardless of format. Odd offer, but I would easily make the deal and clear up some roster space.

Haha I think I read it as 1.9, 2.5, etc. A couple 2nds and 3rds don't get you anything...

I'm not high on any of the WR in this deal, but I guess Sutton holds the most value for now and the roster space is probably more valuable than Quinn and whoever your 3rd round picks are

So this offer has improved this morning. Pick 26 and Quinn were removed from what I’d need to give. That barely matters right?

I decided to take this revised offer:

Give: Callaway, Zay Jones, 2019 2.09, 3.09, 2020 2nd
Get: Sutton

I just think that in a 10 team league with such thin starting requirements, I'm not going to start Callaway or Zay Jones in any circumstances like some people have said. I already had Hill, OBJ, Landry, Kirk, not to mention Shepard and Enunwa plus the 1.03-1.05 in this draft, so cutting some depth and consolidating seemed like a good move. I also liked Quinn and once him and the other 3rd were taken out, I felt like the value was close enough that it's better to bet on the upside of Sutton.

Nothing you're giving up has much value to me. I'd rather have Sutton and hopes he turns into a viable fantasy starter.

Very interesting. I've never encountered a package like this in my 16 team league. Callaway and Jones each have some small element of legal / behavior risk. The only way this backfires is if Baker Mayfield is such and uber stud (not out of the realm of possibility) and takes Callaway to WR1 territory.
"Marathon Square" - 16 team full PPR league with 24 player roster. Keep 16 per year indefinitely, draft 8. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Team DST
QB: Jordan Love, Deshaun Watson
RB: Travis Etienne, Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, Kendre Miller, Jaleel McLaughlin, Sean Tucker, Deuce Vaughn
WR: A.J. Brown, Garrett Wilson, Tee Higgins, Calvin Ridley, Michael Wilson, Kendrick Bourne, Tutu Atwell, Allen Lazard, Isaiah Hodgins, Justin Shorter
TE: T.J. Hockenson, Cole Kmet, Kylen Granson
K: Didn't make the playoffs in 2023  , and don't usually hold one in the offseason
Team DST: Cowboys, Lions

Picks:
2024: All my picks except 3rd rounder

Disclaimer: My one and only Championship in this league was way back in 2011. Therefore, take my replies with the appropriate grain of salt.
