Trading away AB (POLL)

Postby FKC » Fri Feb 01, 2019 6:16 pm

How is everyone feeling about AB? I’m high on him either way, but with reservation on him going to a new team. In a start 2 TE premium would you make the trade below? I would still have Adams, Hilton, Sutton, and Kirk as my top WR’s.

Give: AB

Get: Ertz and Devonta Freeman

QB: Herbert, Tua, Carr, Ridder, Stroud
RB: D Cook, Barkley, Chubb, Ekeler, Dobbins, K Ingram, Brightwell, C/Z/D Evans, I Spiller, Strong Jr, R Rivers

Ertz>AB if Ab goes to a new team in 2019.

EDIT: didn't see this was a 2TE league, Ertz>>>>>>AB

You're getting a steal in a straight up trade and getting Freeman on top is highway robbery, ake this trade happen ASAP

Is this a deal on the table? In a start 2 TE league, I'm probably taking it.

I'd do this. Ertz in 2TE is huge especially if this year is any sign of the future for Te's production in fantasy.
Team 1 - Super Kamario Bros (12 Team - PPR) ( QB -1 , RB -2 , WR - 2, Te -1, FLX - 1, SuperFLX - 1, DP - 2, K- 1)
QB -Wentz, Newton, Ryan, Haskins (R)
RB -Zeke, Kamara, Drake, Ballage; Thompson, Ajayi
WR - D Hopkins, Julio, A. Miller, Coutee, AJ Brown (R) , Marvin Jones, Mclaurin (R),
Te -Delanie, Ebron, Oliver (R)
2020:3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5
_____________________________________________________________________________________
Kerryon Luggage (12 Team - 2TE PPR) ( QB -1 , RB -2 , WR - 2, Te -2, FLX - 1, SuperFLX - 1, DP - 2, K- 1)
QB - Jimmy G, Josh Allen, Mariota
RB - Kerryon, Jamaal Will, Drake, Ballage, Miles Sanders (R), Justice Hill (R), Myles Gaskins (R)
Wr - Micheal Thomas, Zay Jones, Curtis Samuel, Crowder, Coutee, Aj Brown (R), Marquise Brown (R), Keesean Johnson (R), Kelvin Harmon (R)
Te- Engram, Oj Howard, Josh Oliver (R)
2020: 3,3,3, 5

This. In a start 2 TE premium Ertz would have been a fair trade straight up for AB in Pitt.

While I'd lean the Ertz side, I wouldn't, by any means, think it a landslide.

Freeman is nearly a zero.. something like an early- or mid-2nd round value, so mostly meh.

Basically Ertz vs. AB. I'd probably project both guys to have 3-4 years of high-end viability left.. Ultimately it could come down to team need, more than anything..

I'm a little surprised about perception here. I'm higher than most on Freeman, but I think I'd still lean AB. Does a 28 year old TE make a better long-term bet than a 30 year old WR? I'd suggest not. As an Ertz owner, I have become very aware of Goedert behind him. Goedert is a very promising receiving option and a far better blocker. He could cut into Ertz' targets. AB is incredible and pretty much situation proof - Ravens and a team QB'd by Bortles excepted. I'd go with the best WR in the league.

In 2 TE, Ertz should go before AB. No questions about it

The reasoning in most of these posts is based on bias and nothing else. To say ertz >>>>>>> ab means you simply don’t know anything about fantasy football. In fact ertz 2017 and 2016 seasons were above average for TE but realistically not extremely impressive. He had 800 yards and 8 and 4 TDs, respectively. This last year Ertz had a terrific year, but he has only had 1 statistically amazing year. Furthermore, it’s not as if he is a very young TE, he is 28 going on 29 and they have a very impressive backup TE behind him. AB has shown absolutely ZERO drop in production at his age, so it really shouldn’t be to much of a factor. Chances are AB still ends up in Pitt, and to make a trade based on the chances that he leaves is awful decision making. Ab is coming off a 100+ 1300 yard, 15 TD a season in 15 games... aka his 2016 season, but better. Let me remind you once again his last 5 seasons stats: yards: 1296, 1533, 1284, 1834, 1698. TDs: 15, 9, 12, 10, 13. All while posting 100 reception seasons every year. Don’t forget AB was a top 3 fantasy pick in redrafts for most of those years, yet statistically he hasn’t declined at all. Devonta Freeman on the other Hand is a huge red flag. Constantly plagued by injuries, and it’s gotten so bad if he gets concussed one more time, he should step away from football altogether. If you want to go ahead and use recency bias to compare Ertz to AB then go ahead, but you’d be making a huge mistake. Even gronk in his prime was drafted/valued nowhere close to AB. This is ridiculous. We need to be drawing conclusions based on facts. The fact is freeman is always hurt and would be a HUGE gamble on regardless of what anyone else thinks, and AB most likely stays in Pittsburgh.

While you didn’t include any other mentions of your team it would be dependent on your roster, ie. depending on your receiver depth/current TE situation. That being said My post was definitely targeting anyone who stated “easily ertz” or a “land slide.” Both of which would be really incorrect. Would love to play in a league with some of those guys. That’s for sure

Or maybe you simply didn't read the post and have no idea what you are talking about lol

AB is 30 going on 31 and if you take away his 15 TD outlier season and give him more of his career average of 10-11 its one of his worst season ending stats he's had since breaking out in 2013. Receptions and yards are much more stable and indicative of how the season went not an abnormally high TD rate. Want to use Goeddert is an excuse to downgrade Ertz even though Ertz just had his best season and has consistently improved over the last 3 years and just broke the single season TE reception record? What about Juju a 22 year old WR on a fraction of a fraction salary as AB that just had MORE receptions than him and MORE yards NOT to mention he's clearly outstayed his welcome is Pitt and while he may stay due to financial reasons it looks pretty clear that the team and AB both want to move on if possible.

Lastly, you completely failed to take into account this is a 2TE premium league which means there are a minimum of 24 starting TE's each week and premium typically means and extra .5 ppr. Ertz scored 17.5 ppr (not premium) ppg while the TE 24 just scored 5.1 ppg, It's a heck of a lot easier to fill in a WR2 role to score you 12-15 points on any given week compared to having to roll out any TE that's not in the top 10 on a weekly basis that will give you doo doo amost every week. Kelce/Ertz/Kittle are all 1st round startup picks in a start 2TE premium, AB at the age of 30 going on 31 with the high chance of not even being on the same team in 2019 is absolutely not a 1st round startup pick.

I'd love to be a in a league with you if you think guys like AB/Julio/AJG are still worth what they were 4 years ago and you fail to take into account what type of scoring system you're playing in.

2 TE... Ertz is a 1st rounder. AB isn't 1st rounder in normal leagues at the moment
