Trading for a RB??

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trading for a RB??

Postby Ktmjelde » Tue Jan 22, 2019 6:26 am

As you can see from my team in my Sig i am absolutely stacked at WR as i just got a deal done that involved Lindsay for Cooks. From a starting perspective i have the strongest team in my league, but am worried about my RB depth. I have my two studs in Mixon and Chubb, but beyond that i have my two potential guys in Ballage and Rojo and then middle of the road guys like SmallWood and CJA (hopefully he finds a good home next year). I currently have the 1.06 pick in this years draft, and depending how it goes could draft the best RB or could trade that or some others players to upgrade at backup RB. Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated!

Thank you,

What are starting requirements? You should be pretty good rolling out Mixon and Chubb weekly. Maybe look to sell high on CJ with another piece for another RB?

This. Your team is great. You have enough WR to fill out 3 flex spots on top of the traditional minimum of 2RB and 2WR. Don't trade any starters but if you can use depth to acquire more RB, I'd do that

Hell, I'd throw an offer of Russel and Fuller for Mahomes even. Add that (late?) 1st if it gets it done

I wouldn't stress about it. In general, I try not to trade assets for injury-protection-backups (I do make trades for backups whom I think could ascend, but that's different). Why? Because you don't know if you will ever need or use them.

If you do have a major RB injury, then you're also not up the proverbial creek. You have plenty of WR depth and 2020 picks to make an in-season trade if/when needed. I wouldn't spend resources now on a player that you might never use or need.

With a start 3WR, I wouldn't give up Cooks for a depth piece. Even if you do, I would go after someone with a more reliable grip on the starting job than Lindsay. Another post suggested Drake, as the change in coaches may give him a more defined role. You could probably add him to Ballage for a 2nd and/or something small without digging into your WR core. This would at least give you the piece of mind you seem to be looking for concerning your RB depth.

Sorry to clarify, i just traded Lindsay/R. Anderson for Cooks as i was nervous on Lindsay's role going forward. My philosophy is to go all in on top flight WRs and figure out RBs. As i feel, aside from the top dawgs, they are a dime a dozen.

Move Gronk before he retires. I'd try to package him with someone like Fuller, Ridley, or Dede and get a good RB.
