I get the NE RB hate, I've been on that train for years too. It just seems different this time. I did just trade Julio for Sony+Jonnu in a standard league and believe it was the right choice but would be lying if I didn't admit I have this image stuck in my head: an arms crossed and smirking Belichick laughing at me while saying "hold my beer" as he sits Sony for some imagined team rules violation.

But how often did they draft a RB in the first round during that span? I think Michel is the attempt to prolong the B/B-dynasty for a bit.

That’s is the point. Will a RB used to prolong the B/B dynasty be a top 12 fantasy RB? Not if he gets his points on the ground. Sony will need to continue to develop into a exceptional pass catcher to be worth anyone remotely close to Thieilin in the NewEngland system. Again, great talent, wring system. Until New England changes the system, Sony or any RB will never crack the top 12, 2 years in a row. This is just history, watch and see it again
James White only has the year he had because the offense was depleted of pass catching options for the entire season other than Julian Edelman. White has been in the league for 5 years and do people really think he had a “breakout” year? He was in the right place at the right time for season long consistency. Again, unless Sony can catch the ball and gather 50+ receptions, I just don’t see a top 12 performance for more than 1 year. New England moves on from their RBs once they being to demand more money.

And 2006, 1st round pick, Lawrence Moroney. Never had a great fantasy season insignificant after his 3rd year

I’m not sure they’ve had a RB as talented as Michel since Curtis Martin. With the injuries, he didn’t have the time to get worked into the passing game, but he certainly has the skills to do so. I think he will this offseason. That’s not uncommon for rookie RB. Look at Zeke’s progress in the passing game.

Also, this team isn’t led by the goat Tom Brady anymore. It’s led by old man Brady who doesn’t seem to have much left. They are going to need Michel.

By trading Julio or Thelein or anyone in that Tier for Sony, you are saying you value Sony as a future Top Tier RB, in the same conversation as CMC, Zeke, Saquan, Kamara, Gurley.... I am telling you, this will not be the case in New England as long as Bill is calling the shots. Find someone that values Sony as a future top 6 back, or even top 9 back and make that trade. We will see who is right in 2020! He could a nice year in 2019 if he shares the backfield only with James White... but I am telling you, the train will detrail and he will be back to a committee in 2020 and game scripted out of many games. WAY to much risk for me to value him as a top 12 RB. Sorry man, i wanna believe this guy is different, but i just cant get myself to do it knowing that Pats.

I don't think Julio and Thielen are in the CMC Gurley tier because of age... More like Mixon and Cook, where I think Sony is in the back end of that tier. The talent is there. Situation not so much

Why are you set on Sony? I like him too but why not go after a higher name (Mixon?) with Julio or Thielen plus the 1.4

no way i am adding 1.04 to Thielen for cook. maybe for mixon. idk tho i would rather keep thielen and try to send 1.04 for aaron jones
