J. Winston SF Value?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

J. Winston SF Value?

Postby cm56776 » Wed Jan 16, 2019 7:04 am

in terms of 2019 draft picks? What would it take for you to move him in a Super Flex League (not factoring in individual team needs/roster)?

Asking for a friend!

Cheers.

I know nothing about SF, but based on some of the other posts I have seen about SF, I would assume multiple 1st round picks. Young QB with big upside

Winston should be trending up with the acquisition of Bruce Arians. There isn't a single QB in this draft I would prefer to have over him. Easily worth the 1.01+ for me in 2019.
Team 1-
SF .5 PPR TE Prem (1Q, 1SF, 2R, 2W, 1T, 3WRT)
QB- Richardson, Dak, Watson, Bennett, Zappe
RB- Achane, Mixon, Ekeler, Javonte Williams, Mostert, Dobbins, Gibson, Bigsby, Spears, Gainwell
WR- Chase, Lamb, London, Pittman, QJ, Bateman, MT, OBJ, Skyy
TE- Freiermuth, Kincaid, Chig, Fant, Musgrave, Woods, Bellinger
1.07, 3.04, 4.07

Team 2-
.5 PPR TE Prem (1Q, 2 R, 3W, 1 T, 3 WRT)
QB: J. Allen, Kyler, Stroud
RB: CMC, Bijan, Gibbs, JT, Breece Hall, Kamara, Gibson, 4nette
WR: Diggs, Hill, AJB, Aiyuk, London, JSN, Hollywood, M.Mims, Meyers, Shaheed
TE: Kelce, Kyle Pitts, Dulcich, Logan Thomas
2024: 2 1st (one top 3), 4th

Team 3- (Adopted Dumpster Orphan)
.5 PPR TE Prem (1Q, 2 R, 3W, 1 T, 3 WRT)
QB: J. Allen, Dak, Young
RB: Gibbs, Hall, J. Cook, Warren, Bigsby, K. Mitchell, Dobbins, D. Cook,
WR: Lamb, Wilson, Olave, Higgins, London, JSN, Bateman, Wan'Dale, Z. Jones, Hyatt
TE: Kittle, Kincaid, Woods, Likely
2024: 2 1st (one top 2), 3rd, 4th

I was very confused, and then I saw the Bucs flag avatar lol.

People were saying Winston was worth the 1.01 last offseason, which I thought was ludicrous. Winston has been incredibly inconsistent his entire career, and I have very little faith that he's all of a sudden going to put up elite stats just because Arians is in TB now. At most, I'd pay a mid/late 1st, even in superflex.

While I don't think he was worth the 1.01 last year, I think he is worth more than that this year. Big difference. I'm not a Bucs fan either, but I agree with him. He'll be just 25 next year and he's shown flashes of being a star. In the games he started and finished this year, he averaged about 300 yards passing, 20 rushing, and 2 TD and that team was a mess. I do think the coaching changes turns his arrow back up. He has great weapons. He's risky, but the potential is very high in superflex.

I didn't think I was being biased by saying that. I really don't see a QB I would rather have in this draft. Unless you are in a league that penalizes the INTs more than normal then maybe. He has been pretty inconsistent, but he's only 25 and they just brought in a coaching staff that turned the corpse of Carson Palmer into a good QB again. Dirk Koetter was a huge part of the problem. He is a shitty coach and getting a peak into how he coached when the Bucs had hard knocks highlighted why.

Inconsistency in young QBs really is everywhere though. Wentz, Goff, Watson, Mariota, Carr, Dak, the list goes on. Not everyone can be Mahomes.
