OBJ super deep 2qb2te trade

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

OBJ super deep 2qb2te trade

Postby blackburn72419 » Mon Jan 14, 2019 3:45 pm

Hey guys kind of a strategy and trade evaluation thread... background on the league...super deep, heavy QB scoring, TE premium

14 Team, PPR, 1.25 PPR for TE,
QB scoring: 6 pt passing TD, .25 per completion/ -.25 incompletion, -3 int, .15 per 1 yard rushing for QBs
Starters: 1QB/2RB/4WR/2TE/3FLEX/1SUPER

I give: OBJ, Kyle Rudolph, Gio
I get: Rivers, Njoku, Mckinnon, John Brown

my squad:
QB: Tannenhill, about 7 or 8 backups...
RB: Saquon, gio, ivory, latavius, theo, rod smith, ware
WR: OBJ, Nuke, Julio, Hilton, Marvin Jones, Garcon, Ryan Grant, Tim Patrick
TE: Rudolph, Reed, Vernon, Eifert

obv i'm shallow at RB and QB... would you make this trade to help the roster become more balanced?

edit: alternative offer
I give: OBJ, Gio
I get: Josh Allen, Cohen, Gesicki, Doyle

If Rivers was 5 years younger, I'd go with that side. But give me OBJ pretty easily.

I still don't hate the deal for his team, but yeah I'd much prefer other QB

This kind of league screams TEs first and QBs second. But, not enough of a return, IMO, for OBJ in the first offer.

The second is far more palatable, though. I think that I'd pull the trigger there.

was just offered Kerryon + Corey Davis straight for OBJ... this too light for OBJ?

edit: after searching the forums a bit this seems way too light... im struggling to find the balance between OBJs value and valuing depth in such a deep league

There is no real value to depth when trading OBJ for something like KJ and Davis. Easy pass.

The value in the following offer --

edit: alternative offer
I give: OBJ, Gio
I get: Josh Allen, Cohen, Gesicki, Doyle

-- is entirely positional. TEs are, by far, the most important position in this league: must start two AND a PPR bonus. QBs are second-most valuable.

Look, I don't love the return in this alternative offer. But, the upside in there. I'd much rather be getting a more established/reliable TE back, but I have to imagine that Allen would be removed if that's the case.

If you're trading OBJ, you need one of three things:

1) A positional stud at RB or WR;
2) Multiple 2nd-tier players;
3) QBs and/or TEs.

No offer has met the first criterion; KJ and Davis falls well short of the second; the alternative offer meets the third. You wouldn't be blowing it by passing on that alternative offer, but it does at least meet one of those standards.

I tend to agree with your assessment overall, the problem being that the league valued QBs so highly during the startup (last year) that it's difficult to trade for them (when I say highly I mean OBJ went for about the same prices as middle tier QBs like dak)

Which is why I ended up so short on QBs so not sure if I should just try to get them through the draft over the next year or two (this doesn't look like a great class though) or go after a deal... I'm looking at just acquiring one of the aging guys like brady type for my 2019 first which would be a big win in this league if I could

I don't like either offer you've gotten. Given how much help your team needs, I'd try to trade Beckham+ for a young QB like Mahomes, Wilson, Watson, Luck or Wentz.

This would never happen. Given that it is a 14-team 2QB league, it would likely take two OBJs to get one of those guys.

You never know. Some superflex league members undervalue QBs. Just depends on the owner.

I agree with selling the headcase that is OBJ for a package, problem is none of those packages really are any good. Keep going, offseason is young.
