Big Trade Proposal - Need Help

Postby psfox2010 » Mon Nov 19, 2018 2:16 pm

This is involving the team listed in the below signature. My team is currently in 1st with a 10-1 record. I've received the below offer.

Give: Fournette/Yeldon/Kerryon/Baldwin/Sanders
Get: Melvin Gordon/Ekeler/Landry/2020 1st

Not sure on this one, so looking for some opinions. I'd like to have Gurley, Zeke, and MG starting weekly, but it might be giving up too much. Basically, do I leave everything alone and not mess with a team set to possibly win it all or will this trade make my team stronger?
10 team, Full PPR, 27 man roster
2018 Champion, 2020 Champion

WR: Ridley, Cooper, Thielen, M. Thomas, D. Smith, Boyd E. Moore, R. Moore, Reagor, St. Brown
TE: Kelce, Fant, Engram
Defense: Denver
Kicker: Gay

2022: None

If Fournette can remain healthy (big if), he is comparable to Gordon. Heading into next year, I think Kerryon being in that deal is way too much. Johnson looks like a McCaffrey type player in development. Too much for me. I would make that deal if Johnson was not in the deal.

I like the Gordon side as well. That side is getting the best RB and best WR in the deal and the 2020 1st.

I’m all for making deals to help for the Championship push, but this is one I wouldn’t do.

I like Sanders & Baldwin both better individually than I like Landry. & I’d rather have Kerryon than what will be a late 1st if this trade happens.

I don’t particularly care for Ekeler or Yeldon, so that doesn’t affect anything for me.

& yes, Gordon is better than Fournette, but let’s not act like only Fournette has injury concerns. And although Gordon is only 2 years older, that’s 650 more touches.

Ultimately, Kerryon is the sticking point for me. Without him, this would be an easy accept for me, but with how Fournette has played since coming back, makes Kerryon’s loss unnecessary, especially when doing so, greatly harms the draft pick compensation you will be getting. Just my opinion though.

RB- Kamara, Patterson, Swift, Ingram, Foreman, Breida

If you're ready to have your mind blown, if you did the deal, you'd have to decide if you wanted to start Golladay or Landry. Here's an interesting tidbit, Golladay is less than 30 days younger than Landry...that's crazy.

At any rate, back to the deal, I don't think I'd do it. You'd basically just be swapping a starter in Gordon over Fournette. Golladay still likely starts over Landry, so, are you any much closer to locking up the title this year? Not really. I think you'll probably win it either way, you just lose depth and hope your 1st rounder hits you added.
10 team league (PPR). 31 player rosters. Keep all 31. Start 2 QBs, 3 RBs, 5 WRs, 2 TEs.

QB: Cousins, Fields (R), Z. Wilson (R), T. Taylor, Minshew, K. Mond (R)
RB: Chubb, Mixon, Ekeler, J. Robinson, C. Edmonds, D. Henderson, S. Ahmed, J. Wilson
WR: Diggs, D.J. Chark, D. Samuel, M. Brown, C. Davis, C. Kirk, D. Slayton, J. Meyers, P. Williams, D. Mooney, M. Callaway, B. Persman, I. Smith-Marsette (R)
TE: Kittle, Herndon, O.J. Howard, H. Bryant, D. Schultz, L. Farrell (R)

The injury concerns are different for each player. Gordon has the concern because he has "bad knees" and touches the ball a lot. Fournette also touches the ball a lot but has soft tissue injuries that won't go away.

Yes they both have injury issues, but I think Gordon is more dynamic. It might be team bias, but thems my thoughts.

Kerryon is the ONLY reason I hesitate on this deal because it pains me to see him traded away in any deal because he's about to be the next big thing IMO. However, I think MG significantly upgrades your RB3 over LF short term and long term if you ask me. While Sanders and Baldwin both are probably better starts this year than Landry but long term Landry is easily worth more and between these 3 WR's you're only starting 1 in your 2nd flex position this year. getting a 2020 1st which is supposedly a really strong class is nice gravy. I'd make this trade for the win now thought without losing too much for the future. (unless Kerryon becomes a top 5 asset)

at first i said gordon side but after looking at your team i think stay put. you need KJ for this run. depth wins titles, dont leave yourself short for a perceived upgrade.

lf and yeldon is a wash with MG and ekler imo
kj way over a random first for a win now team
landry/baldwin/sanders is not gonna make a difference especially on your bench, prefer landry by a ton long term but the goal is to win this season. the trade off of kj for a first and in return getting younger at wr is not worth it for a win now team.

I don't understand how this trade doesn't help him win this year. The only change made to his starting lineup would be swapping Fournette with Gordon, which is definitely an upgrade. Everyone else involved is on his bench and not playing for him the rest of the year. Studs win championships in 10 team leagues, not depth. Especially when byes are over (at least for everyone involved in this trade). Also, Gordon would be his RB2 just 1.5 points behind Gurley and over 4 points more than Zeke. Not to mention, I think Landry and 1st is at worst equal to Kerryon, Baldwin, and Sanders. This is a great win-now trade and a very good dynasty trade.
