In a NON PPR league would you do this...

Give - James Conner and AJ Green
Get - Christian McCaffrey and Calvin Ridley

Current team:
QB - Brees
RB - Gurley, Gordon, Conner
WR - Evans, Edelman (AJG if healthy)
TE - Doyle or Burton

This is a good one, with lots of variables:


Conner is a big risk, but we have to think he stays on as starter next year, right?

AJG is a medium risk, and is aging up, so he is a win now piece for next 2 years let’s say.

But for this year. If Bell comes back and Pitt decides to save some of their future back Conner’s legs that alone almost kills your title hopes. And if AJG has surgery or even returns hurt later in year, that at least greatly hurts your title hopes.


McCaffery is basically no risk and is 22. Huge value, both win now and for future, with a very secure situation. Only slight downside is standard, but he has shown this year he isn’t as reliant on PPR as last year, and he seems to be just ramping up in production more and more as season goes.

Ridley is a standard beast, as he does a ton with few targets and receptions, and scores teddies like a champ. But his ceiling isn’t WR1, at least for 3-4 years until Julio slows down, and he is an old rookie. 2 years older than even McCaffery I believe. You can’t necessarily plug and play him for win now production but he is a valuable flex piece based on matchup as of now for a contender and possibly future solid WR2 piece.


I think, because of the risk of Conner and AJG the second half of this year, I would take McCaffery. But Conner and AJG have the higher upside right now and Conner has the highest upside(and risk) for his career out of all four.


TL;DR

Play it safe for high floor win now and for long term future: CMC and Ridley.
Swing for the fences for big risk/big reward for win now: Conner and AJG.

Even in ppr, Conner is outscoring CMC. The gap between Green and Ridley/Golladay isn't close at all though if you're competing. He'll be back in a few weeks hopefully.

But the problem is if Bell comes back on Tuesday do we think the Steelers don’t give him 10-15 touches a game really eating into his value? ROS does Conner still outscore CMC?

Conner is a far superior runner, it's not even remotely close. Meanwhile AKG is way better than Ridley whom I'm not big on although maybe I'm wrong on that one.

I happen to agree here, I would take CMC and Ridley. But I am a conservative owner that would rather make the playoffs every year and give myself a shot to win than swing for the fences hoping for a blowout season and sometimes end up holding my dick in my hand at 3-10.

Neither would start for you this year and the goal is to win it all. If you think CMC gives you a better chance at winning over Conner and Green, then make the trade.

If this was redraft I'd take the Conner side easy.

CMC and Golladay in dynasty? Im all over that. People on here are so ready to sell AJG until this thread popped up lol
