2019 SF 49ers backfield

Postby NWABCS » Thu Oct 18, 2018 10:59 am

In my one dynasty (league 2), I've put out word that Le'Veon Bell is on the trade block. The first offer that rolled in is Jared McKinnon and a 2019 1st (late) for Bell.

I turned it down but it got me to thinking, what does everyone make of the 2019 SF 49ers backfield? The 49ers paid McKinnon a lot of money. Breida seems like he could be "the guy" but he needs to be healthy and get a full workload. I was high on Breida last year (still am this year) so I probably can't looked at his fairly. I think it's RBBC next year quite frankly.

Just looking for other people's feedback on what to make of the RB situation in 2019 for the SF 49ers?

Mckinnons contract was really a one year deal with options. He can be cut after this year. Ive thought about buying him cheap in a few leagues... but just carries too much risk for me. He may not be in SF next year.

I was trying to find documentation on McKinnon's deal but couldn't find anything concrete.

Thanks :)

I value McKinnon around an early 2019 2nd. There's enough risk of SF rolling with Breida and cutting McKinnon that I wouldn't pay a 1st, but there's enough upside if he stays in SF even if he's in a committee with Breida next year where I'm not selling for less than an early 2nd.

This for me too. Most owners paid a 1st at minimum and not many are selling low.. if I owned him Im holding to see what happens... unless somebody offers up a 1st which is unlikely

I said flat out I wasn't interested in McKinnon. Rolling with my love of Breida.

I was given another offer which wasn't good but there's potential to move Bell and receiving Chris Carson, Aaron Jones, and 1st round pick for Le'Veon Bell and Mike Davis

Thoughts?

Looking like the cap hit for next year is fully guaranteed. Saying that pass on the deal and yeah I wouldn't sell for a 2nd but I also wouldn't buy for a first right now

The way I see the backfield is Brenda will be the early down rb and MCKinnon will go to a pass catching role. Both capable of taking a game over, but will most likely split duty.

Pretty terrible offer IMO. I don't put much value into Carson and still have questions on Jones. Bell is worth way more than that

Yeah. After sitting back, I feel dumb for even entertaining the idea of that trade lol.

I like Breida, but I don't think he'll ever be an every down back. I think SF either goes after Bell, signs another free agent like Coleman, or drafts someone to compliment Breida.

I think Mckinnon will be heavily involved, but likely in a committee of some sort. Maybe he and Breida splitting the reps with one taking a slight edge over the other, hurting both for fantasy purposes.

I am no contract expert but if I'm reading it right his cap hit is basically the same as his dead cap space if they cut him. So basically they would save literally no money against the cap by cutting him. Seems like him being there for 2019 is as close to a guarantee as you can get.

They can cut him before 4/1 and have 6 mill in dead cap money. Really a front heavy/one year deal with option to cut/keep him based on performance. My money is on him being gone next year. Maybe a Tevin/Shannt reunion.
