Feedback on Keepers

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Feedback on Keepers

Postby ajf235 » Wed Oct 17, 2018 7:38 am

I'm in total rebuilding mode. I get 4 keepers on a $200 budget in 2019. My potential keepers are as follows:

RBs
Derrius Guice ($7)
Aaron Jones ($6)
Marlon Mack ($11)

WRs
Christian Kirk ($2)
Calvin Ridley ($18)
Corey Davis ($17)

QB
Patrick Mahomes ($10)

TE
David Njoku ($6)

My goal is to have one steady WR for cheap, two stud RBs and a good QB for cheap. As of now, my only RB that I trust in 2019-2020 is Guice so I'm thinking of loading up on rookies that haven't broken out yet (specifically Nick Chubb for $8 and Rashaad Penny for $10), as if I have Chubb, Penny, Jones and Guice, I'd expect two of them to look like they could be RB2s with RB1 upside by the time preseason rolls around. My question is, do you think it's worth giving up Mahomes ($10) for Goff ($2) and Chubb ($8)? I'm thinking no but the prospect of having two potential RB1s for 2019-2020 for under $20 combined (if Jones doesn't pan out) is so enticing.

I like Guice Kirk Mahomes and Njoku here.

The question is if you traded for Goff and Chubb, how would you make room for Chubb?

I'd decide on which backs I wanted to keep - likely Chubb and Guice unless Jones breaks out. I'd keep Kirk and Goff (if I traded Mahomes) and then I'd pay someone $2-3 who is short on keepers to hold most likely Corey Davis (if he breaks out) for the draft so I could keep 5. I really want to lock down two cheap high-upside potential stud RBs, so I can drop $85-90 on Saquon in the draft. That is the priority rn.

10% annual inflation first two years. Year three is contract year. If you contract, it's $5 additional from the year 3 base for each year of the contract. So I could be looking at Guice and Chubb on two-year $18 and $20 contracts, respectively, in 2020-2021.
