Winston vs Mayfield Status Update

With the lights out play by Winston in week 6, and Mayfield's good/moderate performance so far, should I ask for more than just Mayfield in return for Winston?

Maybe a young receiver like J Washington.

Winston's fantasy production from last year and this preseason (and I guess this Sunday) say he's already close if not a QB1 right now. He has much better weapons and is only a year and a bit older than Mayfield.

I think there is anti Jameis due to
1. Idiot
2. Been in the league for what seems like forever and was heralded as supergood but had been slow to progress

Counter arguments are:
1. Dumb things were a few years ago and no issues since (but still seems like 1 bad move away from a big ban)
2. His numbers are improving

I personally would take Winston over Baker unless you have a moral obligation to not roster punks (good luck with that in the NFL) or don't like the risk that he will be a knucklehead again. Sometimes it blows up (Martavis), sometimes you keep believing (Josh Gordon) and sometimes it pays off (Ray Lewis probably was involved in a murder yet kept his nose clean enough to make it a HOF career)

I would personally need more to move the needle for me. He has 3 years of Pro experience already with improving per game numbers. The Idiot risk is the problem in my opinion. You have good Qbs of varying age (and health). Why not gun for a good WR?

My team is hurting this year record wise and was looking to make a trade to offset a terrible season.

I feel like a bunch of my receivers are a year way from putting up consistent good number: Davis, Williams, Sutton.

I may try to trade Winston straight out for a 2020 1st.

Winston by a lot for me.

He's also so young and his team is too. TBB defense is a long way from being remotely competent so that's a bonus.

It helps that my favorite of the two also plays for my favorite team. That's atypical for me as I don't like to mix my fandom with the fantasy game so it's more coincidental.

I like Mayfield more than Winston, but I'm not the biggest Winston fan there is..Both should be mid range QBs with upside IMO

Over the 12 games (11 in '17 and 1 in '18) that Winston has started and completed over the past two seasons, he has 3,771 yards passing, 23 TDs, 13 INTs to go along with 158 yards rushing and 1 TD.

Extrapolate that over a 16-game season, and you get:

5028 yards passing
31 TDs
17 INTs

211 yards rushing
1 TD

And he has a young, talented, and ascending group of pass-catchers.

I prefer Mayfield, but it wouldn't hurt to ask for a 2nd on top from a win-now team.

Without the off the filed stuff it's Winston and it's not even close. In the games Winston has started since he came back from his shoulder injury last year, he is the #1 QB in fantasy. That team is loaded with weapons and... this is the thing that I think people forget... WINSTON IS STILL ONLY 24 YEARS OLD...he won't turn 25 until January.

The incident he was suspended for happened over 2 1/2 years ago. He's married and had a kid since then and the light seems to have come on for him. He also has calmed down and stopped all the pregame rah-rah-eat-my-fingers-nonsense.

I think Baker is great but Winston - with that offense - has the higher ceiling.
Baker is safer. He will be in Cleveland next year and beyond.
But when trying to win leagues, I want the guy who can be #1. That guys is Winston.

Washington > Mayfield > Winston for me. maybe you can get a 3rd-to-2nd pick bump, but even if I'm competing I'd rather have Baker than Winston.
