Godwin or 2nd (projected mid) + Seals-Jones

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Godwin vs. 2nd/RSJ

Make the trade -- Godwin is worth it.

Don't make the trade -- it's a fair offer, but hold onto the picks in hopes of using it as a package to land a stud.

Godwin or 2nd (projected mid) + Seals-Jones

Postby moishetreats » Mon Oct 15, 2018 9:39 pm

For Team 1 in sig (note: a 2TE league), I was offered Godwin for a 2nd (projected mid) and Seals-Jones.

Positives:
1) I think that Godwin is an ascending player on a high-scoring offense.
2) I think that, at worst, his value will hold if not increase.

Negatives:
1) I work fastidiously to avoid having two pass-catchers from the same team (I have Howard).
2) I collected two 1sts and two 2nds next year to be able to make a BIG splash, and this trade dilutes my chances of doing so.

So, thoughts...?

You’re definitely overthinking it. A mid 2nd is not going to be the difference between “making a splash” and not, and there are plenty of teams with two or three pass catchers who can be reliably started every week. If nothing else, Godwin will be a much better trade piece to make that big splash than a mid 2nd and RSJ could possibly be.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

Thanks, guys. I'm just hung up on RSJ -- I think that he could be big...

Update:

Trade completed. I swapped out RSJ and traded Jonnu Smith instead. I know that many are higher on him than RSJ and think that a loss, but so be it. It was enough of a difference for me to make it work.

Thanks for all your thoughts and advice!

@M-Dub: Great points about over-thinking it and about Godwin's trade value himself.

Great trade Im surprised Godwin was just disposed of, he's been pretty good this year and has a bright future
