TRADE for the Future during a Win-Now campaign?!

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Which side?

TRADE for the Future during a Win-Now campaign?!

Postby kaius » Sat Oct 13, 2018 5:16 pm

For the green team listed in sig. Trade is being made with Bell owner who also is my biggest competition for the title this season. This seems like great value but I’ve been a Conner believer for a while and almost hate to sell now that it’s paying off.

Does this hurt my chances to win now enough to not improve my future stakes?

I’d make that trade rather easily. Conner has 1 more week of use before their bye and, more importantly, before Bell is supposed to come back. Cash out on his production before its capped for the rest of the year. You’re getting 2 potential RB1s in this deal which your team needs.

Take it easily on the value alone. You could always retrade one or both of the rookie RBs for a better win now package than the one you're giving if that's what worries you . But snatch that up.

I think this is a good trade for you. Bell will eventually come back this year and while I expect Connor to still have a role, his production with dip. Starting fresh in 2019 Connor will prob be the guy...but so will Guice. I have a feeling you'll be waiting on Chubb for a while tho...similar to Derrick Henry (in regards to sitting and waiting, not running style). So, perhaps you can flip Chubb for a RB that has a few years left and is producing this year to help bolster your playoff run?

...actually, if you could make a deal the centered around you sending Chubb and getting Kerroyn Johnson back, I would like that. Gives you current and future production.

I disagree with what's going to happen when Bell comes back. I don't think there's any chance he plays this year. He'll come back and have a phantom Hamstring injury that puts him on IR for the rest of the year. Conner will still get plenty of time for the remainder of the season.

That being said, I'd still take the upside of Guice.

Guice and Chubb easily. Gordon could anyday now be suspended and that risk will never change. Conner is a good long-term play IMO but going into next year I'd rather have Guice and Chubb over Gordon and Conner. Also Conner is no longer a win-now type of player. Bell is either going to be a complete workhorse like he's always been or they will split time with the edge still going to bell and it will make Conner irrelevant for the rest of this season.
