Mahomes hit waivers

Postby mudu04 » Fri Sep 07, 2018 8:27 am

So I just dropped Trubisky to pick up McKinnon, but now Mahomes has hit the waivers so the owner could pick up Gilislee. Which lotto ticket is more likely to pay off? McKinnon getting starting level playing time next year, or Mahomes becoming a top-10 QB? I'm also sitting on Mayfield from this draft, and I keep waiting on Mariota to finally take off.

I'd probably hang onto McKinnon in a 1QB league. I think Mahomes, Mariota, Trubisky, and Mayfield are all in a similar tier. If you like Mahomes more than one of them, you can drop a QB and pick him up. If not, just leave him on waivers. With only 18 roster spots, I probably wouldn't even roster 3 QBs, so I'd forget about picking up Mahomes and still drop one of your other QBs.

ahhh...the joys of not owning a qb :) i like mahomes a good bit, but agree that rostering more than 2 qb's is a waste. id only add if you have him above your current qb's.

I guess my hope would be that if Mahomes has a good showing early in the season, I could flip him for 2019 draft stock. McKinnon has to wait until next year for payoff.

I'd rather have Mahomes than Mariota. We've seen what Mariota is, and I don't see the offense getting any better in Nashville. Mahomes has a much higher ceiling than Mariota, and the Chiefs are just going to be a more fun offense to watch anyway. And I'd probably lean Mahomes over McKinnon if you are limited to that choice. The excitement around McKinnon was more about opportunity than raw talent, and who knows how circumstances change over the next year.

if theses dudes are on waivers then the likelihood of you being able to trade a qb, even a top qb, would be very slim.

Mahomes for sure. Healthy, starting QB with massive upside. McKinnon is what he is. Not much upside. Not healthy. No idea what team or role he will have for sure next year. McKinnon will also be 27 coming off the injury next year. Mahomes all the way. Even in a 1QB league.

I’d pick up Mahomes but wouldn’t drop McKinnon. I’d drop Westbrook or Doctson.

No doubt. Westbrook should only be owned in very deep leagues. If guys like Mahomes are on waivers (or for that matter McKinnon being there?), this is NOT a deep league.

Funniest part of this thread is that he released him for Gillislee... That's got to be a typo.

Afraid not. I double checked with the watch alert came through. As for depth it's a 12 team league, but only 18 roster slots, so not a lot of room for fliers.

In a league that shallow, Westbrook and Gillislee have no value.

Id have dropped Gillisslee but thats just me. Think Dede will be better than people think, but in a shallow league its a matter of preference. I think Mahomes has ability to be Too 5-10 QB. Mckinnon is essentially on a 1 year deal and could be gone next year. Tevin Coleman reunion coming
