Buying McKinnon at all? Whir

Postby johnnymozart » Thu Sep 06, 2018 9:08 am

Thoughts on mckinnon moving forward? Owner wants to sell him and needs RB infusion.

Was thinking of
Ronald Jones and Jordan Wilkins
For
McKinnon and Pettis ...

I also offered him in a 2019 2nd (late) but he doesn't think he wants that

I could then stash McKinnon IR and pick up another speculative player. Let me know thanks!

I’d pay that but I’m not too high on anyone in that entire deal.

Jones and McKinnon should be valued pretty closely at this point. Comes down to who you prefer between Wilkins and Pettis. I'd personally take Pettis.

I just think people selling low on Rojo right now are really jumping the gun. He's a young kid with a lot to learn. But he will absolutely get his shot by the end of this year. Meanwhile, McKinnon has to sit and watch all year - if Breida or another back pops, the Niners can get out from under that McKinnon deal and he is back to being a change of pace back elsewhere.

the panic over ronald jones before playing even 1 meaningful snap is remarkable.

jones for mckinnon would be lateral at best but one player is totally unavailable. wilkin vs pettis is a toss up but prefer pettis

I'm confident McKinnons most productive years are behind him, and he will not be the starting RB for the 49ers at this point next year.

The 49ers can cut him next year and only take a $1.5M hit. McKinnon's agent should be applauded for getting him $12M in the first year of his contract, he must have known the guy isn't capable of handling a true RB workload.

I'd stick with Jones

I offered him to two contending teams for presumably late 1sts and got denied by both. I’ll probably just hold and see what happens next year. I’ve heard the same thing about the 49ers being able to cut bait relatively cheaply next year, but you’d think they’d at least want to get some degree of ROI and maybe see what he’s got.

If owning Keenan has taught me anything, it’s patience. As long as the sheep continue to slap the “injury prone” narrative onto players after non-contact ACL tears, you’re better off just holding if you already own them.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

🦬PRIME🦬
QB: Hurts, Howell
RB: Mixon, Jones, Sanders, Dobbins, Akers, Roschon, Dowdle, Kelley
WR: Nuk, Godwin, Cooper, Lockett, Flowers, Chark, Collins, Hollins, Tillman, Tolbert
TE: Hockenson, Chig, Trautman
Taxi: Willis, Z. White, M. Mims, T. Palmer

Hull Awaits
$450 cap, 60 contract years

QB: Lawrence $5/3, Richardson $5/5, Minshew $1/0, Jones $1/0, Heinicke $1/0, Tyrod $1/0
RB: Achane $4/4, Warren $2/4, Roschon $7/5, Dillon $4/1, Hubbard $2/1, Kelley $1/0
WR: Nuk $78/1, MT $25/1, M. Williams $1/0, JSN $21/5, Reed $4/5, Rice $4/5, M. Wilson $2/5
TE: Thomas $1/0, Hill $1/0, Parham $1/0

To be fair, a contending team wouldn't want a guy that's not going to help them this year. I think the only way someone gets decent value for McKinnon is by holding him and hoping his value goes back up during the offseason.

I didn’t mean to imply that he’d help a contender win this year. I only mentioned that they’re contenders because their 1sts would project late. I was mainly just seeing if I could still get a late 1st for him from a team with room on their IR, but apparently that ship has sailed.

Yea, that makes sense.

As a rebuild I would probably look for a better deal to move Rojo/Wilkins. It just is a meh trade, I'm not sure it helps you.
