D’onta Foreman’s price tag?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

D’onta Foreman’s price tag?

Postby jimmychoi » Tue Aug 28, 2018 4:52 pm

Hello folks. I’m a Miller owner, and I’ve been trying to get Foreman since I narrowly missed drafting him last year. His owner has stated he’s willing to move him, but I have concerns about his Achilles injury. With that said, what’s the consensus on his price now? Still a first? More or less? Thanks fellas.

I'd put it somewhere as a mid to late 2nd - maybe right around, if not a bit lower than he went last year.
His value went up a bunch because we saw some success but that is a scary injury.

Careful not to overpay just because you have Miller.

If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

Wow....I don’t think I’d be able to get anywhere near that from this owner.

I’ve offered a second. I don’t think I’m willing to offer more. I was reading a medical journal post, and this is alarming: “Across all positions, there was a net decrease in power ratings by 22% and a net decrease in approximate value by 23% over 3 years following player return after Achilles tendon rupture. Across all positions, running backs saw the biggest decrease in production with a 78% decrease over 3 years post-injury in both power ratings and approximate value.” Sage Journals Sports Medicine.

I don’t think I’m overreacting to the injury am I ?

2nd maybe 2nd and a throw in, hes set to miss half your fantasy season as is, so the risk lies with the buyer not the seller. being that you own miller i would be surprised if a deal can be done as he will see that and think you should pay more for foreman due to that fact. it sucks but i would anticipate him trying to work you over for maximum value.

I wouldn't offer a 4th. I'm not joking. That article says their sample size of RBs is n=4. Here are the players I think they are referring to:
Arian Foster
Mikel Leshoure
Vick Ballard
Kendall Hunter

Achilles injuries essentially ended each of their careers. I wouldn't touch Foreman at this point. I'd rather go pick up Alfred Blue for free. And before you laugh, he out carried Miller in the last 3 games last year by a wide margin (46 - 27) even though both were healthy. Even if he's not a great talent, he's the clear backup.

This.

Achilles ruptures are one of the worst injures to come back from, far worse than an ACL tear.

Foreman owners drive me mad. Either they think he's superman or are ignorant to the severity of his injury, either way they always want a lot for him. I'd happily go and pursue Miller for a season or so (I expect them to draft a RB high in 2020), since a lot of people seem to value these two RBs similarly.

To add to the fact that this injury is tough to come back from. You also have to look at how this position is handled. It seems like if you dont break out right away there is a new rookie taking your spot next year.I believe I read Foreman only started to run in June. Meaning who knows what shape he will be in even when he is eligible to return. There is a good chance this is another lost season. That means another rookie class he has to hold off.
