Value for Jordan Reed

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Value for Jordan Reed

Postby Skelly11 » Wed Aug 22, 2018 10:58 pm

Shifting into a bit of a rebuild. Just traded for Engram so don’t need Reed as much. He’s a high risk/reward guy but also a concussion away or knee or etc. from something bad. Been offered what is likely a late 2019 2nd rounder. That enough? Do you wait to see if he can produce or move him before he gets injured again?

In my opinion, he *only* has value to a win-now roster.

If you're committed to rebuilding, yes, it's enough. It hurts, because there was a point when he could've been sold for more, but if the Skins offense craters this year without Cousins and a new QB who hasn't been able to build much rapport or establish timing and chemistry with Reed this offseason, you could be looking at an even greater fall in value.

As for waiting for him to produce, there's probably no upside in that, because everyone already knows he can produce. Everyone also knows he's counting down toward his next injury.

I do have one piece of advice: consider seeing if you can get more in '20 picks than in '19 picks. Like maybe a '20 2nd and a '20/'21 4th.

I might even prefer just a '20 2nd over a '19 2nd. I assume a contending roster has offered you the '19 2nd. But a lot can change in a year. Maybe his '20 2nd will be a better pick? 2020 could be a better class than 2019 anyway.

I'd move him for a 2nd if you don't need him on your team.

I think I'd trade him. If he starts out hot, how much more do you think you could get? People will still point to the risk associated with him and I doubt it moves the needle substantially.

Prob won't get a better offer than that and if he gets hurt again, esp if it's a concussion, his value will plummet to zero pretty quickly. Take what you can get since you have EE for the future.
