Engram/Burton gap?

Postby keebs3 » Mon Aug 20, 2018 10:54 am

Getting a bit nervous about Wentz for team 2. I like Burton, and have some concerns over Engram.
How does this offer look? This is a 2 QB league, 10 team.

Engram and DaeSean Hamilton (maybe Allison?)

Ya, I voted Engram, but I think you'll be fine with the combo of Tyrod/Baker as your QB2 (until wentz is back). But also, I don't play 2qb much, so I could be way off.

Teams with Dalton as their QB2 very seldom win 2QB leagues. Especially 10 teamers. Burton is just an idea right now and people are banking waaaaaaaay too much on all the Chicago assets.

Based on all the forum hyperbole:
Howard is an RB1
Tarik is going to put up RB2 PPR numbers
ARob is a WR1
Miller will be a PPR dynamo WR 2/3
AND...
Burton is going to break out as a top 8 TE.

All with a QB starting his first complete season in a very tough division.

Okay, sounds great.

These young offensive minded HC's have kick started a lot of offenses with the way the rules are set up nowadays against defenses.

TE 8 last year was jack Doyle who was catching balls from jacoby Brissett. He recorded 690 and 4.

Burton in a limited row recorded 260 and 5. Now he’s being upgraded to a full time position, with a qb who does relatively well throwing to the middle. I don’t think 690 and 4 is hyperbolic. If anything, thats probably Burton’s ceiling if he sees 100 targets, which is very attainable in the Nagy offense.

I agree with damn near all of that, but I would argue that Engram is subject to the same degree of hype and that Dalton would be his QB3 behind whichever of Taylor/Mayfield is starting. I also think Hamilton is a decent speculative add, but I would try to negotiate for more.

Engram side for me. It’s 2 QB but I wouldn’t trade my high upside TE1 here for what will be your QB4.

Dalton Burton side in 2 QB. Regarding the "buying Chicago" negative narrative; seems like TE is very involved in the offense and Burton seems to be real deal. Engram has the big name and hype but thanks to Barkely pick, he's likely looking at a QB issue in the future and target share loss in the near future.

Engram is a far superior player.

Burton is getting plenty of hype but he is not real fast, has small hands and short arms. Pretty much a big slow slot WR. Engram will get 40 more targets at least IMO. Teams run very basic defenses in preseason. I wouldn't get too excited about his prospects. He will be the 4th option in the passing game IMO. Burton could be a top 10-15 WR. Engram is top 5 quality TE.
