DT vs. Kerryon Johnson

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Who would you prefer?

DT vs. Kerryon Johnson

Postby kmbryant09 » Thu Aug 16, 2018 4:00 pm

For my team in sig:

QB - T. Brady / C. Wentz / K. Cousins
RB - T. Gurley / M. Mack / D. Foreman / C.J. Anderson / J. Wilkins
WR - J. Jones / M. Thomas / K. Allen / A. Jeffery / D. Thomas / P. Garcon / A. Wilson / J. Brown
TE - T. Kelce / T. Burton

As you can see, I have a huge hole at RB behind Gurley, and have a really strong WR unit. We haven't finalized any official trade proposals, but I might be able to swing a pretty-even swap of D. Thomas for K. Johnson.

I think D. Thomas is due for a nice bounce-back season, but he turns 31 later in the year and is losing value fast. K. Johnson might not provide immediate RB #2 production to start the season, but it'd be a much-needed injection of young talent at the RB position for me and give me another startable option as the season goes on.

So, who ya got?
10-team/.5 PPR/5 Pts per Passing TD. Start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2FLEX (rb/wr/te)
QB: J. Hurts, K. Murray
RB: Bi. Robinson, D. Henry, D. Achane, , J. Cook, Z. Charbonnet, T. Chandler, R. Johnson, K. Mitchell, J.K. Dobbins, T. Allgeier, J. McLaughlin, S. Tucker, T. Bigsby
WR: G. Wilson, B. Aiyuk, J. Waddle, T. Higgins,, Z. Flowers, Di. Johnson, K. Toney, A. Iosivas
TE: K. Pitts, E. Engram, C. Okonkwo, G. Dulcich

You need someone who's going to help you win now. With that roster, I'd try to move DT for someone more proven. Try packaging DT with someone like Mack, Foreman, or Wilkins (plenty of believers for all 3 guys) and see what that'll get you.

I think Johnson could finally be that guy Detroit has been seeking for years. a 31 y/o WR is exactly that.... I don't think his production will be increasing. It's fair value imho, MT will only continue to decline in value and Julio, M Thomas, Keenan are a solid starting trio, where as your RB depth is lacking.
12 TEAM SUPERFLEX, TE Premium, 25 man rosters
QB - | Rodgers | Herbert | Mills
RB - CMC | Chubb | Dobbins | Keaontay Ingram
WR - McLaurin | Deebo | Waddle | Gabriel Davis | Elijah Moore | Mooney | C Ridley | Jameson Williams | Pickens | Alec Pierce | Wan'dale Robinson | Justyn Ross | B Edwards
TE - M Andrews | Friermuth

2023 Picks: 1st round(2), 2nd round(2), 3rd round (2)

It's probably fair, based on team need.

Agree with this. Value wise it’s not bad but I’d be looking for an RB to plug in now and help win.

I'd take the trade.

I'm a big fan of K. Johnson and he may actually be able to help you by later in the year if all breaks right for him.

In the meantime make another offer, or pick up off the wire, someone like Kelly or Barber whose cost should be very little and can get you some starts until you see how things shake out to start the season.

Value wise this is an absolute steal....no way anyone in any of my leagues is giving up the 1.08 for DT....not even for the 1.12 (sutton). Make this trade right now. on top of that he's a bench player for you thats 30. He'll never be a starter for you ahain unless injury happens.

Kerryon by a mile.
DT is on death's doorstep and nearly retired this off-season.
