This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Julio vs JuJu

Postby migouch99 » Thu Aug 16, 2018 12:00 am

Team 1 in sig - the owner of Julio has him on the block and I enquired about him and he said he'd want an offer with JuJu involved. What sort of difference is there between the two? and would you pursue this trade or stick with the younger future star?

He would help your team quite a bit. If he is the piece you need to win I’d offer juju and the 1st. I’d try Juju, Crowder and the 2nd though to get it started.

This is what I typically do. Try to talk up your players and get them to send an offer. That way you know their valuation.

The big point I make when arguing age gap is the fact that even if Julio is better for 3-4 more years at some point is value is going to plummet simply due to age like Larry Fitz, with Juju you can enjoy him for literally 6-7 years and get the same return on him as you did Julio when he was 30....whole point of dynasty is keeping your assets churning and never get left holding the bag for when guys retire or fall off (Demarco Murray, Jordy Nelson, Brandon Marshal) that coupled with solid draft picks and over time you'll have a team that can compete for decades.

With that being said its also important to realize in competitive leagues when its time to make a run for the ring and get aging studs for cheap.

I'd try to make this deal to, but I'm not adding a first without getting an additional piece.

I agree with this. Julio can help you get the title this year. I'd start with JuJu/2nd and another lower end player that he may like. If he doesn't go for that I'd trade JuJu and your (presumably) late 2019 1st pretty easily.

I would only go after Julio if you think his addition makes you competitive. If so, I'd start with adding a 2nd to Juju and go as high as a late 1st.

I've doing dynasty for about 3 years now, and I've made some big learning mistakes by giving up older elite players for younger good players. I've had to rebuild my team twice now because I made those mistakes, and my team is still not as competitive as I would like it to be because of that. Trading Julio was one of those mistakes. I would take 3-4 years of an elite player over 6-7 years of a good player.
