RB HELP

Postby kmbryant09 » Wed Aug 15, 2018 10:31 am

For my team in sig:

QB - C. Wentz / T. Brady / K. Cousins
RB - T. Gurley / M. Mack / D. Foreman / C.J Anderson / J. Wilkins
WR - J. Jones / M. Thomas / K. Allen / D. Thomas / A. Jeffery / P. Garcon / A. Wilson / J. Brown
TE - T. Kelce / T. Burton

I'm the reigning champ, but as you can see I have a huge hole at RB behind Gurley. I'm scouring the league in order to find RB help, but they aren't coming cheap. Should I be willing to sacrifice my WR core to shore up my RB depth chart? Or should I sit tight, work the in-season waiver wire and hope that my strong rest-of-team is enough to go back-to-back?

A few trades that have informally been discussed:

Give: Julio Jones
Get: D. Baldwin / D. Lewis / 2019 3rd

Give: Michael Thomas
Get: David Johnson

Seriously thinking about the Thomas / DJ swap, but I just hate investing too many resources into RBs - no matter how talented & productive they are.

Thoughts?

Why not get some depth and last minute value out of Julio? you could get 2 mid tier guys like Ajayi and Crabtree or something along those lines.

I’d be tempted by dj mt swap but agree it’s probably not the wisest of investments long term.

I’d be looking to shop Julio for a guy, maybe look at a low end guy like Gordon or go after a promising rookie like Kerryon+
A guy I’ve been acquiring is Peyton Barber I fancy him to have a sneaky good season but I’m also massively low on Rojo. Thats not gonna be a guy to win you a chip but is a viable depth option to be had cheap.

Thanks for the early responses.

I agree trading MThomas for DJohnson is not a smart long-term investment, but it could help me win back-to-back championships - I could then turn around and trade off players for a rebuild.

I've asked around the league at some of the depth pieces - mainly M. Lynch / C. Thompson / D. Johnson / A. Collins type guys, but they all want one of my top 4 or 5 WRs which I'm not going to do.

As for the Julio trade, I just don't think Lewis solves my RB #2 problem - he certainly helps my RB depth, but is that enough of an upgrade to swap out Julio for Baldwin?

I’m waiting until your in season. Wait for DT to turn it around, Jeffery is healthy and then look for a trade partner. Maybe someone falling out of the playoff race and target them.

No I'm not, but I'm high on Baldwin and Lewis. It gives the depth he's looking for at RB, and the production drop from Julio to Baldwin is significant, but made up by the production gain going from Mack to Lewis as RB2. The 3rd is just extra (I would ask for a 2nd instead, just to try)

I don't like either of your options. But I would be looking to trade Julio. It may be an over pay, but alshon and dt for someone like r. Freeman and a 2nd.

That first trade is horrendous. The MT/DJ one isn't bad, but I don't think is necessary. I'd see if you can move DT or Jeffery for someone like Miller and get something else on top.

So I've shopped Alshon around the league and there's little-to-no-interest. I haven't publicly shopped DT, but I have a feeling that I'll be met with limited interest as well.

There's a team in the league that has hoarded young RBs - Cook / Henry / Guice / KJohnson / R. Freeman / Mixon - but he too is after one of my 3 stud WRs. Is it worth trading Julio for Cook? What about Julio for one of the other RBs (Mixon / Henry / KJohnson) plus one of his WRs - Gordon or Hogan? Would it be worth it for me to trade DT straight up for Freeman or KJohnson if he's interested?

The owner of all those RBs (Mixon / Cook / Henry / Guice / KJohnson / R. Freeman) has an interest in DT, and says he values him pretty equal to both KJohnson & R. Freeman.

1. Should I pursue a pretty even swap of DT for one of those RBs?
2. If so, which one? I think Freeman offers more short-term value to start the season, but I know some people are pretty high on KJohnson long-term.

Thoughts?

I'd swap MT for DJ all day. I'd say DJ will be around just as long as Brees, and once Brees goes, so does MT's value IMO.

I love that swap honestly, I'd go after Johnson personally as I think he has much more long term stability with Stafford and a good OL and think he should have a pretty good year as he looks pretty good already and Bount, Riddick and abdullah are just role players at this point but they will vulture some but not as much as the media makes it out to be
