Selling high on Carson

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Selling high on Carson

Postby mn48 » Wed Aug 15, 2018 9:28 am

With the Penny news breaking I figure now is a great time to get off Mr. Carroll’s wild ride. I’m targeting Jordan Howard to shore up my running back core for the long haul. Would Hilton and Carson for Howard and either Stills or a 2/3 be too much?

I think that deal is perfectly fair, although I’d rather have Hilton than Howard

I would ask for Stills

I think you gain in your RB positional value and lose in WR value for your overall team composition. Depending how you feel about everyone after AB (assuming Brown is Antonio), its a mostly fair trade. I don't think I would offer this because I think Hilton will do exceedingly well this year to offset what production you'd gain from Howard over Carson. But I totally understand cashing in on Carson's high value, especially from Penny's recent injury.

Good luck!

Seems fine to me. Hilton and Howard are close. I'd rather have Stills over Carson.

Yeah I love Hilton this season but I feel long term having three top running backs all under 25 is huge. I also have exactly zero RB depth and I feel good that at least one of my young WRs will blow up.

Are you not very high on Howard, really high on Carson or what?

Yeah Brown is AB. My feeling is that while this year I probably lose the deal moving forward having Howard as my third high level starter under 25 is better than whatever Hilton will give me for the next two years he has at his current production level. I also am pretty confident that one of Miller, Godwin, or Sutton will blow up in the next two/three years.

This thread should have TY Hilton and Jordan Howard in the title, not Carson. This is essentially Hilton for Howard with pieces thrown in on each side, this is not selling high on Carson at all (at least not in the traditional sense). He has little value compared to both of those players and does not do much to swing the needle.
10-team standard, 18-man rosters (plus K/D + 1 IR + 2 TAXI)
1QB | 2RB | 2WR | 1TE | 1FLEX
2021: 8-6, 5th (AP: 76-50 / 60.3%, 3rd) ||| Runner-up
2022: 5-1, 2nd (AP: 47-7 / 87.0%, 1st)

QB: Hurts, Russ, Carr
RB: Chubb, Pierce, Swift, JRob, D'Ernest, Ford
WR: Diggs, Evans, GDavis, Nuk, Keenan, Hollywood, Mooney, CSamuel, Doubs
TE: Kelce, Dulcich, Fant
2023 Picks: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th
2024 Picks: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th

Fair enough, I put him in the title because he was the guy the Howard owner rescheduled out to me about. I would still say though that this is selling him high, as before the Penny injury I don’t really think this is a trade that would be accepted. While Hilton may be overall a better asset than Howard the lack of solid RB depth this season makes it pretty hard to trade for rb without giving one up. I feel that now Carson is able to get you closer to fetching one of those guys now than he was 24 hours ago. That being said I see your point the title probably should’ve been Hilton and Howard
