My first superflex start up about to begin (Updates as picks come)

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

My first superflex start up about to begin (Updates as picks come)

Postby SteveMaddensShoes » Tue Aug 14, 2018 11:02 am

I've never been in a superflex league. Startup today in 1 hour. Just wanting to know if anyone wants to follow along or help with advice.

I've got the 1.12 pick in a snake draft.

Scoring and lineups are

standard PPR(1 ppr and 1 point for 10 yards) for RB and WR

QB scoring is 4 points per 100 and 4 points per TD and -2 per INT.

TE premium 1.5 ppr and 1 point per 8.5 yards receiving.

Lineups-

QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Superflex, 3 RB/WR/TE flex spots.

I keep seeing that it's important to get a couple QB's in the 1st 2 rounds or at least 4 rounds. Obviously TE production is amped up here as well. Pretty balanced scoring all around from a positional standpoint I believe.

I will try and keep posted the action if anyone is interested in following along.

Off topic do you find it easier or harder to find trade partners with so many flex spots?

I'd probably go QB/QB at 1.12/2.01 if the top-tier QBs are still available at those picks.

I'd go QB early as well. Wouldn't reach on a TE just because it's TE premium.

Just keep taking best player available. Hard to anything else but that at the turn (assuming 12 team league)
Team #1: 2nd place
12 team, 1 ppr (1.5 te), 1Q,2R,2W,1T,2F,1D,1K

Q: Kyler, AR
R: JT, CMC, Barkley, chandler
W: Evans, Chase, Mooney, Collins, Dell, Pickens
T: Kelce, Goedert
D: nyj
K: Sanders

Team #2: back to back champion
12 team, 1ppr (1.5 te), 1Q,2R,2W,1T,1SF,1F,1D,1K

Q: R Wilson, Murray, Watson
R: Swift, Walker, gus bus
W: Puka, Metcalf, Dell, Cooper, DJM, K Allen
T: Kelce, Pitts
K: Tucker
D: CLE

Team #3: back to back champion
14 team, SF, 1PPR (2PPR for TE), 1Q,2R,3W,1T,1SF,2F

Q: Mahomes, Rodgers, Watson, Heinicke, walker
R: Mostert, walker, a Jones, Wilson, Charb, Z White, McLaughlin, freeman, d Williams, Reynolds,
W: Waddle, A St Brown, K Allen, Cooper, Nuk, Juju
T: Kelce, Schultz, Thomas, Ferguson

i know it's not a popular opinion on here but i like to wait on qb even in SF. Get one in the first five rounds and pick up value later in someone like keenum/bortles/dalton/flacco/tyrod/smith. That way you gain an edge on WR/RB/TE as qb is so deep these years.

That was my plan not too long ago in a recent SF startup but when Rodgers was staring at me in the face in round 3 i jumped on it.

For the OP, take best player available and when deciding between players when on the clock especially with QB ask yourself would you trsde this QB for this non QB player? If not take the QB.

I would just add on. Unless the QBs are horrible at 3.12 and 4.01 I'd suggest having at least 1 QB after your 4th pick

It all depends on how the draft play out, you just gotta be reactionary to your draft. If they go skill go QB if they go QB go skill

At what point do we try and move up to grab an OBJ type player? And what's a good offer to make? I've literally never done a draft where we can trade picks in the start up.

Agree with this. If you zig while they zag you arent fighting for the same position as every body else. You do need to be reactionary to how the draft plays out. In most of my SF QBs go early and are king. If you have plenty and good ones you can get max value for them when trading

So no QBs taken yet. A lot of rbs gone and top WRs gone. I am really tempted to take Hunt and Rodgers but Wilson and Rodgers sounds good as well. The scoring is not qb heavy so I’m a bit hesitant to take 2 qbs.

Hard to pass on Hunt but it'd be nice to get two QBs now and fill out the rest of your roster later.

Seems like I then am stuck having to take excess qbs if the opportunity presents itself value wise. I guess I just get the qb and trade someone?

I'd say go for hunt. Guys like Carr, Cousins, Mariota, Goff might make it back to you. Ryan, Brees and Brady will hang around. Then there's the rookie crop of QBs.
