Josh Allen?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Josh Allen?

Postby Favrezilla » Mon Aug 13, 2018 1:31 pm

I was fairly impressed with how he played (yes I know it was preseason and later in the game)

But he showed some nice touch on his passes and obviously could whip the long ball with zero effort and he looked like an NFL QB if that means anything.

Anyone else have him moving up their board? I have a superflex rookie draft Saturday and pick 1.12, hoping guice falls but where would you take Allen and do you like Darnald significantly more?

Thought Darnald looked very very good

I'd still take Rosen, Darnold, Baker, and Jackson over him.

He's probably #5 out of the class this year, but I think he has higher upside than Darnold and Rosen. He's definitely a late 1 - early 2 in SF formats this year. Looking at your roster I think you can afford to take him, if you go QB, and sit on him for the year. If he lives up to his pre-draft hype as "Wentz 2.0" you are going to be set for life at QB haha.

I agree with this, but that said in a SF if you can get him at 1.12 I would take him. As a matter of fact I did take him at 1.12 in my SF league and at 1.13 in my two QB league with an extra pick in the first round up for grabs. So I think that is the right spot for him.

I've never been a fan of Jackson, so I go

Darnold
Baker

Rosen
Allen

Jackson

Baker is my top QB.

I like Allen's upside long term next.

There is a little accuracy risk but his upside is Big Ben with a stronger arm and more mobility. If Allen hits he could easily be the best in this class. Allen is actually plenty accurate on throws 15 yards and shorter. He was marked down in college accuracy on long throws over 15 yards which he threw over 30% of the time which is a lot. Didn't have great WR's in college. That is why I used little risk on accuracy. Many just look at the gross number and panic. Thought the Bills made a solid choice.

Short term Darnold and Rosen will probably outscore him.

I don't really see the Big Ben comparison. When I see Allen play, I see more Stafford at the beginning of his career. Decent mobility, strong arm, and a kind of arrogance that he can/will throw the ball into tight windows (I like it, but he needs to learn when to pick his spots). He has great upside, but he's far from the safest option.
