Jordan Howard for 1.02(Guice)[Updated Offer]

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Jordan Howard for 1.02(Guice)[Updated Offer]

Postby Dominus » Wed Aug 08, 2018 5:59 am

Hey everyone!

I play in a 10 team dynasty league. We're moving form Standard scoring to .5 PPR this year. I've been offered Jordan Howard for my 1.02 pick. I was planning to snag Guice with it. Would you make that trade given my roster(see below)?

It's worth noting that we'll only be keeping 8 players this year to shake up the teams a bit. Players in bold I'm planning to keep. Howard would be traded to me after our keeper deadline, so, I'd effectively have 9 players including him.

QB
Derek Carr, Marcus Mariota, Patrick Mahomes
RB
David Johnson, Joe Mixon, D'onta Foreman, Peyton Barber, Austin Ekeler, C.J. Anderson, De'Angelo Henderson
WR
Odell Beckham Jr., Amari Cooper, Corey Davis, Larry Fitzgerald, Josh Doctson, John Ross, Cooper Kupp
TE
Hunter Henry

Thanks for the help!
-------------------------------------------------------
[Update]
I've been made an updated offer: Jordan Howard & Jerick McKinnon for my 1.02 and 3.02 picks.

I'm torn because I really liked what I saw from Guice on Thursday, but, trading away the pick would give me some additional depth at RB. I feel like Howard has a lot of potential as well.

Thoughts?

I'm higher on Howard than most but I would take Guice.

Keep Henry over Fitz, I know he's hurt, but he'll be back and one of the top TEs. Fitz will be a lot easier to re-secure during the draft, or get someone similar. Henry quite frankly fits your youth movement more than Fitz and you should be stocked at WR with OBJ, Amari, Davis.

As for the trade I would keep the pick and take Guice, I think he's more talented and dynamic with much higher upside.

Thanks for the advice! I'm a huge fan of Henry, so, maybe I'll try to trade Fitz for some combination of picks, since my keepers are full.

It also looks like Guice is the universal recommendation. My only concern is that a lot of my roster has huge upside, but, no proven value yet (Mixon, Davis, Amari, Mahomes). Adding Howard offers a proven commodity to my roster, instead of another unknown. Is Guice's talent sufficient that it's just worth that risk? I think I have a shot at being a contender this year - would that affect anyone's recommendations?

Yes I think Guice's talent is a lot higher than Howard, and while yes you could be good this year, I think you have a chance to truly shine next year.
Mahomes
DJ, Mixon, Guice
OBJ, Amari, Davis
Henry
That's a potentially devastating lineup once healthy and the young guys have hopefully fully developed.

I think Guice and Howard are close, but I prefer Guice.

You should also be dumpng Foreman in favor of keeping Kupp or Mariota (who you should keep over Mahomes to begin with...)

I've had Mariota since he was a Rookie, but, was really disappointed with him last year. I like Mahomes potential moving forward more than Mariota at this point. I'll do a little more research, though, and keep an eye on both through the pre-season.

I like Kupp, but, I've felt like I have more depth at WR than I do at RB. The possibility of Foreman overtaking Miller this year is very enticing to me. Why Kupp more than Foreman?

Foreman isn't overtaking Miller. I'd rather have a starting WR than a backup RB.

I think those trading away Howard in that new offense will regret it. The Bears will look very different this season. Expect a system more like KC. Howard should really excel in their zone scheme. The deal is close but I don't have Guice at 1.2 and prefer Howard who could be a 15 point play this season and put up top 10 RB numbers.

The offer has been updated (see the OP). I now have the opportunity to get both Howard and McKinnon for Guice, essentially.

This feels almost too good to pass up.
