snaking dispersal with 2 owners??

this is kinda weird but im holding a dispersal draft for 2 new owners as one team was super good and the other super bad lol. but i was gonna just do alternating picks since its only 2 dudes but got to thinking and the person who randomly goes first gets the edge as they will get 1 more "good" player and also gets first choice so they get the "best" player too.

so i was thinking it might be more fair to have it go ABBAABBAABBAA etc.


any thoughts or am i overthinking it and it wont make any major difference to do it old school playground picking teams style?

Who are the players in the pool? Number of top dogs available will determine which is more fair. I think you're on the right track though and that does sound better. Advantage probably lies with team B now getting to pick 2 and 3, but it's less unfair than team A getting picks 1 and 3

id strongly suggest going ababab. ive seen some 2man despersals go very badly when going with the abbaabbaabb. if everything were as simple as each owner taking best player available according to some sort of rankings....sure the abbaabbaabb...would make sense. it doesnt work like that. owners may follow some rankings but ultimately those continuous back to back picks can really give 1 team an advantage over the rest of the league and can vice versa leave a dispersal team with junk aswell...

this can obviously happen using ababab aswell, but it is much less likely because of the rotating picks.

figured that i would share this here. its from another current thread, and why you can never count on an owner taking "most value" or try to guess how an owner will run their team. obj went 7 in this dispersal.

I can't speak to the IDP side, but how in the world did you get OBJ and Hopkins? Along with Landry as your 3?!

Dispersal Draft had 4 other people in it I had pick 4

Zeke
I took Hopkins
Guy then took Tom Brady and Keenan Allen
I snapped up OBJ

I traded Dede Westbrook and 1.9 for Landry day or two before the rookie draft

Complete luck I got Nuk and OBJ but I'll take it

Why not just do a mini auction?

The bidding will be a little funny as it'll be so top heavy, but you get a shot at everyone. As long as you have seasoned owners bidding, and it's not their first rodeo with an auction. Imo that's the most fair method.

Go snake. You can’t predict owner valuations. I was a part of a SuperFlex 2 owner dispersal draft earlier this year. I had the 1st pick and was pissed about it. In the end, I like my team better then the other owner’s team due to him making some jumps on players; so, it worked out. Disclaimer: this dispersal draft was stacked with talent though.

...and so on...

Yeah, the owner with the odd-numbered picks has an advantage in every round (!!) if you do not snake.

What you could do to alleviate the issue of snaking and confusion is go ABBA BABABABA... Just absolutely not ABABABABAB

I don't think you can snake. The player who was way better before the dispersal should get pick 1 and all odd number picks. He's already getting shafted by giving up his dominant roster, he should get an advantage in this dispersal. If I was the team that was "way too good" I wouldn't have it any other way, because now I have to give up a lot of good players and probably some prize money.

I don’t think the 2 new owners came in taking over a team. I would assume they both came in with the knowledge that there will be a dispersal draft of said players from the 2 teams that left. I could be wrong, but that’s typically how dispersals work so that new owners are more enticed to join when more then 1 team left the league

nailed it. just one team was trash and one was great so it didnt make any sense to offer a team to one owner and the bad team to another, so split it up and work from there.

neither owner has any dynasty experience and i ended up just going with ababab to keep it simple and as others said this wont necessarily lead to one team being better because people have differnt opinons or valuations. i didnt feel there was a distinct top 5 players only or whatever, no odd number of studs lets say that would make it seem like one team had a big edge. i actually have more faith in the owner who picked 2nd to pick a strong team or turn it into a contender quickly regardless of how it shapes up.
