Devonta Freeman Trade

Team 1 in signature.

I decided to blow up this team while I still have assets to sell so I just traded Devonta Freeman for a 2019 1st + 2020 1st. My trade partner’s team looks pretty good now but they’re not locked in late 1sts at all.

Good value for Freeman?

. Maybe not great value but it’s a low stakes league so I’m fine trying a big rebuild.

You may or may not have been able to get more (only you can judge the market of your league) but something is better than nothing and 2 1sts is nothing to sneeze at. Maybe you can turn those 1sts into something that is more useful to you and it is really going to depend on when the picks are going to end up - and how patient you are, and/or willing to work the 'phones'.

I would have preferred 2 1sts in the same draft over 2 different years though. Or had an upside player added - assuming you had the roster space - even if it was someone like a K. Dixon or a S. Perine.

On paper it is probably a little low for Freeman, possible you could have had an actual player thrown in such as a rookie/young player with upside.

Truly, you won't really know until you use those picks. 2019 is looking good for WR, 2020 for RB....2020 is far enough away, if his team is not as competitive next year, you could be in a good spot for an RB.

Don’t love it, don’t hate it, but:

If you do this trade then try and do the same with AJ and Alshon. Go all in on a rebuild, you are possibly a playoff team as is, but doing this trade will lead to you being basically middle of the pack for a while. You will be too good to get high picks and draft the best prospects, but not good enough to have a chance of winning. That's my least favorite place to be with my teams.

Make that 2020 first a 2019 first from a team that isn't particularly strong and maybe I'd consider that. No way I'd do it for a 2019 and 2020 first unless the 2019 first was from a terrible team or something.

I think the value is okay, I just don't like the execution. I would have sold some of your other pieces first. Freeman's value, barring injury, is likely to hold for the year, especially if colman moves on as many expect.

You probably could have gotten more if you waited for a. RB to go down on a conteding team

I think it was a fair trade. As a Freeman owner as well whose been active in trying to move him, I would have accepted this trade and been happy with it. If you continue with this blowup with your other big name assets, I think your rebuild will be great shape.

Like others said, not bad value. But if your blowing up the team to rebuild, I would have wanted a young player in the deal.
