Just got an unsolicited Nuk for OBJ offer and I'm torn

Postby hockeyBjj » Thu Jul 26, 2018 12:00 pm

I bought OBJ last year when injured for Keenan Allen, Mixon, and a late first (got 2nd back) from this same guy. I was stoked to pair him with Mike Evans

Just got an offer from him of Hopkins for OBJ (and a 5th but who cares) and I am completely torn on which guy to have

OBJ pros-
Top 8 WR every year in the league (excluding injured year), even rookie 2014 year
In my opinion more talented, but close

OBJ cons-
Seems a bit mentally crazy
Eli Manning at QB (although he did all his studley seasons with Manning anyways)
I also have Barkley

Hopkins pros-
Massive year last year
Paired with Watson for foreseeable future

Hopkins cons-
Horrid 2016 year, year over year reliability ?s as top 2 dynasty asset
Rushing attack may not be enough to take pressure off him
teams now have a year of tape on Watson
Team 1- 10 team ppr, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flx, 1D, 1K
2022: 1-8
Finishes: 6th, 6th, 1st, 5th, 6th, 9th
QB: Lamar Jackson, Purdy
RB: Bijan, Dobbins, Achane, Charbonnet, Algier, McBride, waiver trash
WR: JSN, QJ, Addison, Dotson, Skyy Moore, Jameson Williams, Hyatt, T Dell, Boutte, Skowronek, Quez Watkins, Greg Dortch, waiver trash
TE: Hockenson, F Monroe, Juwan, Musgrave
D/K: Patriots, Vikings, Saints, Dicker

picks-
2024- 1,1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,4,5,5
2025 1,1,1,2,3,4,5

team 2- 12 team SF, .5PPR, .5TE boost, 1QB, 1SF, 2 RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex
2022: 8-1
Finishes: 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd :wall:
QB: Ljax, GenoD Jones, Minshew, Dobbs
RB: CMC, Stevenson, A Jones, Chubb, A Mattison, D cook, Perine, Mckinnon,
WR:Tyreek, Diggs, C Kupp, D Adams, Keenan Allen, Lockett, Gallup, A Lazard, Hodgins

They are interchangeable as far as I'm concerned. If he came to you, ask for Hopkins + 2nd to make it worth your while.

This is a 50/50 split. For me its OBJ every time. I Love Nuk but we have seen he has significantly lower floor than OBJ. As of right now until proven otherwise OBJ's floor is practically 90/1200/10. I think the mental crazy is irrelevant. I like that he plays for Eli because he is still Elite with him and if he goes to a rookie Qb I can't imagine a HUGE dropoff in production from Eli to whoever his successor is. There is a ton of optimism for the Nuk/Watson combo for years to come but honestly we just haven't seen enough from Watson to automatically deem it worthy of being an ELITE combo.

So for me its OBJ but unless you specifically prefer one it might as well be decided by a coin toss

lol im doing the same thing as well as you can see in my sig, im paring both Evans and OBJ, I don't plan on trading them for quit some time. They will be my foundation WR's going forward.

id say keep OBJ, better career avgs and hes about to get paid.

I think OBJ if you plan on keeping him will age better.

I prefer Hopkins. The off the field stuff with OBJ and his QB uncertainty are enough to tip the scale. Plus, fantasy playoffs for OBJ are going to involve a lot of potentially bad weather games whereas Hopkins will be in mostly ideal conditions. Both are mega-talents. Hopkins is my #1 dynasty player but OBJ is 3rd behind Gurley. Can't go wrong here.

I personally have Nuk and am glad i have him over OBJ. With that said in either situations (having Nuk or having OBJ) IMO to make a trade i would need something to make it worth my while. Someone mentioned a 2nd... remember he is coming to you.. why break up what you already have unless you get something extra.

I'm Team Hopkins here. We've seen him do nothing but produce despite having some of the worst QB playing in the league around him. Less off the field distractions as well. OBJ is great but I'll take Hopkins if given the choice.

We are all just nitpicking here between these two incredible players but I actually see it the other way around. I think Dhop has insane hands and extremely physical to just go up and get it. Kind of reminds me of a young Larry Fitz. Some of the routes I've seen Odell run to get open are jaw dropping. I think both have HOF potential but Odell has the ability to be one of the all time greats with Moss and Rice

Makes no sense that he's asking you to add anything on top. If he's coming to you, he obviously wants OBJ and probably values him more than Hopkins. Unless he's adding something to his side, I'm staying put.

I have no idea why a WR who's been great 2 out of 5 years is even in the conversation with a WR who's been great every single time he's stepped on the field.

I understand the allure of Watson but OBJ is in a tier of his own for me.
