OBJ trade

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

OBJ trade

Postby sugbear65 » Mon Jul 23, 2018 1:25 pm

I just made this deal, and it’s kinda bittersweet. Tough to trade away OBJ, but I felt the value was good. Looking to see what you guys think

This is a 12 team, 24 player rosters, PPR, .25 PPC, 1QB/2RB/2WR/1TE/1Flex

I Gave- OBJ and D. Pettis
I Got- AJ Green, 2 2019 1sts(projected one early and one late), 2019 3rd

My team-
T. Brady, M. Stafford, J. Winston
David Johnson, McCoy, K. Drake, L. Miller, D. Foreman, A. Jones, Ty Montgomery, L. Murray, C. Ivory, C. Edmonds
AJ Green, DT, T. Pryor, Q. Enuwa, A. Callaway, C. Williams
Z. Ertz, ASJ, G. Everett

What do you think, would you have traded OBJ in my situation, or no way you should move super studs? Feel like my WR depth was pretty bare both pre and post trade, but I figure now at least I got a couple of 1sts to play with in season maybe.

i would have done that trade if i got davis rather than green. that team is stuck between win now and rebuild if you ask me. would have preferred to get younger if giving up obj. WR is a freaking mess now. you got Green and DT and then nobody. i dont think that offer would have blown me away enough to move OBJ

Yikes. I don't like it all. I probably wouldn't have done that with OBJ alone. Giving up Pettis as well makes this a huge win for the other guy

I think the value was there but don’t think I’d have made the trade

I agree with BiggBawseRoss about the age

Yeah personally AJ Green is great for the next couple years on your roster but he's a guy you won't be able to trade (and gets value) as no one wants to buy a declining asset into his 30s....if you were getting 3 bonafide stud vets for OBJ and were shooting for the gold now I get it but you mixed in 2 future 1sts so what was the point?

I wouldn't move OBJ for that.

Ok, today I learned I am much higher on AJ Green than the forum. I tend to build in smaller windows than a lot of guys, so maybe I’m just more comfortable with older vets. Also I will say I view the 1sts as trade currency in season for me. I plan on competing so hope to buy another piece when the time is right. But it seems crazy to me that someone said they would do it for Davis instead of AJ, I have Green ranked well ahead of him.

Really need to hit big on those picks to make this close since losing out in the short term and giving up 5 years of age difference.

Understand the sentiment to go with Corey Davis as then would be putting all on the future but also wouldn't make that trade.

Hopefully the picks turn out to be good starters. Time will tell on this deal. AJ should continue to be a great producer for a few more years.

You'll have to really get a solid player with thats trade capital firsts to makeup the difference in OBJ and Green even this year. Green is a clear tier potentially even 2 tiers below OBJ in redraft this season even taking the 4 year age gap out of it.

I think you did just fine as long as ajg doesn't pull a Calvin and suddenly retire in the next year or so.

The obj prices I see on this forum aren't there in my leagues. I see no problem with your trade. Just have to hope there is no retirement.

I think you'll end up wanting to sell AJG in-season if your team doesn't perform as well. Move him now before his value really takes a hit next season.
