Huge Mixon Offer

Postby jakegraff7 » Fri Jul 20, 2018 11:49 am

For team in sig
Best team in the league just offered me Hilton, Watkins, and Derrick Henry for Mixon... I'm a Mixon guy but I still feel the value swings massively in my favor. But I'm not really sold on selling my RB2 for TY and Sammy, both probably wouldn't start over the rest of my WRs, and Henry who I'm not a fan of this season.
Take the offer and run, and maybe try to flip other value for another RB? Or hold off?

Even the most die hard Mixon fan would have to admit that any 2 of those pieces is enough, much less 3 of them.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

Let me play devil's advocate...
I did vote to accept this trade - but let's analyze this.

Sammy has never done anything of merit outside of one decent WR2/3 season. He's been a disappointment and lineup killer in all of his other seasons and is now on his third team. The team he just left let him go and then traded for another guy that they quickly gave 80 million to. Sorry Sammy truthers - but there's a lot of negative writing on that wall.

Hunter Henry is out for the year. He had a nice TD dependent rookie season followed by the predictable TD regression last season. He has never put up great stats and his QB is inching towards the end of his career. Henry is not a slam dunk top 5 TE when he returns - that's what we hope - but the stats say otherwise at the moment.

that leaves TY. Very good receiver. And he's getting Luck back! And he's turning 29 in a few months.

So - Mixon is being traded for a disappointing WR who may be the 4th option on his team, a TE who is out for the season and who suffered a 50% TD reduction last season despite a higher snap count and more targets, and a very good receiver who is about to turn 29.

I get the counter argument: what has Mixon done? That's why I voted accept. But this is not the slam dunk many think.

That other owner knows the gamble he's taking for Mixon and there is a very good chance he comes out ahead in the long run.

Ill start with Sammy. He hasnt done much of anything, I agree. Buffalo is where WRs go to die apparently, but he was productive his first two seasons. One could argue the only time he hasnt been productive is when hes been injured or not on the field. Last year he posted a 39/593/8 on 70 targets. Thats 55% catch rate and 15 ypc. Not grewt numbers by any means but decent ypc and have to think his catch rate can go up. Hes def in the best position hes ever been in, with a guy that can sling it and a great coach. I think he can post a 75/1100/7 line. Everyone assumes Tyreek will be the #1 but him Sammy could be the 1b and if he lines up in the slot thats a productive position in that offense. Im buying Sammy in leagues guys are selling low and tempering expectations. Hes not gonne be a 1300yd guy. But like him to reach/exceed 1000.

Henry is still young and will have plenty of time to heal and will return to a team void of Gates and outside of Allen will be looking for pass catchers to step up. Tyrell was brought back on a 1 year deal. Im assuming he was brought back in case Mike Williams struggles. Im not a big Mike W fan and think Henry will perform well once he returns.

TY is 29 buy if Luck is actually back he has a few good years left. Im a Mixon owner and fan... but he hasnt done much either... Even if one of those guys flops its still great value imo.

Its an even easier accept if its D Henry. Despite the Dion signing Henry will lead the backfield in touches and with the new regime I think there will be more scoring opportunities this year.

I agree that you should accept this trade offer right away even if for the purpose to trade those pieces in other trades to improve your team. The value is just to much to turn down for someone that hasn't proven much in the NFL yet.
