Mixon vs Hunt

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Mixon vs Hunt

Postby dblj1199 » Thu Jul 19, 2018 10:20 am

For my team in my signature. I was really high on both Mixon and Hunt last season and was able to land Hunt at 1.6. But I think Mixon is the better all around rb of the two. Neither team has a top line, Dalton is a proven avg qb with AJG on the outside. Hunt proved to be a 3 down rb, he disappeared mid season, a unproven qb with a playmaking tie and two deep threat wrs. Should I hold Hunt, look to move him for Mixon? If I did look to make a move what would I have to add to my side or is it a even deal. He is in a rebuild, owns the 1.2 pick and knows I like Mixon.
His roster notables:

Stafford
Diggs, Doctson, Golladay,
Mixon, Kamara, Cohen, Drake, Brieda, T Montgomery
Henry, Kittle

I'd need at least Drake and Mixon to give up Hunt

This should in no way be a one for one. I'd consider a few of these options:

Mixon + Diggs
Mixon + Drake + 2nd
Mixon + Cohen + Henry
Mixon + Doctson + Henry

I'm not even sure I'd accept any of those (over than the first one), but that's what it would take to get me to even think about it.

I'd rank those trades exactly how you listed them.

Any rational Mixon owner wouldn't add much to get Hunt. I highly doubt Mixon plus Diggs or Drake and a first is going to be accepted. Maybe start there and then try Hunt/Parker for Mixon/Diggs.

I think you are crazy for giving up Hunt to go after Mixon, especially in a 10 team. I had Hunt higher on my board going into the draft last year and after their two performances and the team around them, it only added my conviction that Hunt was the better option of the two.

Thats the other thing, should I just stick with Hunt and not go after Mixon. I'm fine with someone telling me I'm nuts for thinking about this offer.

Agreed... but if you are set on making the swap I dont think the Mixon owner will give up Diggs/Drake or draft picks... Mixon/Doctson or Mixon/Golladay might be possible... but Id hold Hunt if it were me. What Id want in return is unlikely to be paid. Id price him really high and make somebody pay for him

I still think Mixon ends up being the better player between the two, but if I owned Hunt, I'd want something of significant value on top of Mixon to move him just based on current value.

Finally, I disagree. I think overall talent wise, they are close, but Hunt is a better blocker, better with ball security and better pass catcher (although probably barely or debatable on that one), but the biggest reason is situation. An Andy Reid Rb is always hard to bet against, especially when the other one has a suspect qb play and below average offensive line.

I know you said career, but both will be spending at least half of it where they are at now, so that give Hunt a 5 year head start on his as far as career stats will go.

Why are people still saying Hunt disappeared mid-season? That was the coaching, not him. He's a stud, he proved it by still leading the league in rushing even with that lack of production in the middle of the season. Plus he showed he can catch the football with his 53 receptions. I'm not trading him for Mixon unless there's something of significant value added. But most likely, I'm not trading him for Mixon at all.

These two aren’t in the same stratosphere (at least not yet). I’d need a lot to move Hunt and Mixon would have to be a complimentary piece, not the main return

I see no reason Hunt can't be a perennial top 5 RB. I'm not downgrading to Mixon without a big piece. Asking for Diggs is more than reasonable and probably selling a little low.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.
