Value of Rick Seals-jones

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Value of Rick Seals-jones

Postby SHIZZLE » Tue Jul 17, 2018 3:12 pm

The owner of RSJ is looking to trade and get some value on a waiver pick-up from last year and with hunter going down I need some back-up behind Gronk.

Is a 2018 2.12 pick worth it? I also have 3.06, 3.07, 3.10 and 3.12, 4.12 and 5.12

I was thinking of offering 2.12
or
3.07, 3.10 and 3.12

any other ideas? Thanks guys

You could probably draft a rookie TE with as much, if not more, upside & early production as RSJ imho with the 2.12. Hurst, Goedert, Andrews or Gesicki as examples. Or get a more 'proven' TE like J. Cook, C. Clay, ASJ or Hooper with one of the 3rds.

I do not see any reason to waste a 2nd or 3rd round pick on a guy you know the other owner grabbed off waivers - the fact that he was on waivers should remind you that he is a situationally based talent at best. Put RSJ on a team that already has real TEs and you would quickly see the value disappear.

If you believe in him, then I would recommend nothing higher than a late 3rd.

Thanks ArryIT, I guess i was banking on a breakout like the end of last year. Arizona did not use the TE's with arians, but now he is gone I was hoping to get ahead of the trend if they take off.

I agree with a late 3rd for him

It is certainly feasible that Arizona will make the TE position more prominent - but with DJ, Fitzgerald I dont see the TE being too prominent any time before 2019. And Gresham is a servicable (but not fantasy palatable) TE option. So I feel RSJ is going to be one of those TEs in 2019 who is going to be a lot of hype and plenty of Bust on a weekly basis in the Boom/Bust threshold.

I think RSJ is a 4th rounder, if that. Lots of late/rookie TEs are about the same.

TEs at his level are a dime a dozen and shouldn't be considered as anything more than a potential backup for a fantasy team.

I might pay a late 3rd, but that's about it.

He doesn't have a lot of value, but if you like him and think he's going to break out, you should get your guy. A 3rd or late 2nd is reasonable enough if you like him. He's one of those guys that people are holding for his potential, so you'll probably have to overpay slightly to convince the owner to move on from him.

I'd pay a 3rd, but doubt owners would sell for that. He's worth much more on a roster than in a trade.

He's worth the 3.7 for sure. I think you could get a Luke Wilson or someone like that though in the draft. Wilson is going to be the tight end in Detroit and should get the bulk of that work. This is just an example. Wilson has about the same upside to me and he is going undrafted in many rookie/vet drafts. That said RJS has value and if you want him then pay the 3.7 for him.

Ricky Seals-Jones was arrested and charged with assault, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespassing in Scottsdale, Arizona this past Saturday.

Well looks like he got arrested over the weekend. He had to use the restroom at a hotel and they would not allow him to go because he was not a paying customer. He allegedly shoved his way past an employee and was arrested for assault, trespassing, and disorderly conduct??? Are we at a point where we won't let people use the restroom? You can flush that 3rd round value. Get it. Flush!!! LOL
